The Brazillian powerhouse MIBR has announced significant roster changes, adding two new players and a head coach to the roster ahead of the 2024 VCT season.

MIBR has recently made substantial additions to its roster and coaching staff in preparation for the 2024 VCT season. Former FURIA player Matheus “Mazin” Arajo and emerging talent Arthur “artzin” Araujo, have joined the Brazillian roster, with former LOUD coach Daniel “fRoD” Montaner handling the team’s coaching responsibilities.  The move follows a disastrous 2023 season in which the Brazilian lineup placed eighth in the VCT Americas with only three victories and was eliminated from the LCQ in last place.

The organization has added 24-year-old Matheus “Mazin” Arajo as the team’s new In-Game Leader. Mazin began his professional career with B4 Esports before joining FURIA in mid-2021. Mazin has been a vital component of FURIA since arriving in May 2022, notably contributing to the team’s success in the local arena through his leadership skills.

During this period, the 24-year-old has competed in over 15 FURIA events and even qualified for back-to-back Valorant Champions in 2021 and 2022 via the South America Last Chance Qualifier. However, things did not go as planned in the world championship, and they finished 13th – 16th in both races.

When FURIA joined the VCT partnership in 2023, he was expected to help the team secure a top-four finish,  Mazin, however, struggled to make an impact in the 2023 season, with his team finishing with a 3-6 record in the first Americas League. Furthermore, the team failed to qualify for VALORANT Champions 2023, finishing fifth at the VCT 2023: Americas Last Chance Qualifier. As a result, Mazin, along with two other FURIA players, was let go in August.

MIBR adds young talent along with experienced head coach

The second player to join MIBR is a 19-year-old Valorant prodigy Arthur “artzin” Araujo. The young player struggled to find his footing at first, but rose to prominence after joining 00Nation, where he finished second in the VALORANT Challengers 2023: Brazil Split 1 and Split 2, losing the grand final to The Union.

This led 00Nation and artzin to Americas Ascension, where they made the playoffs but were knocked out in the first round of the lower bracket. Despite his outstanding contribution, artzin found himself without a squad when 00Nation dissolved in August.

Additionally, MIBR has confirmed the arrival of fRoD, who joins its coaching staff after a successful stint with LOUD.  He initially aided the Brazilian squad during their Champions 2022 title run, then went on to finish second at LOCK//IN, first at the VCT Americas, and third at this year’s Champions. Although the signing of fRoD has been revealed today, he has supposedly been assisting the MIBR squad in practice for some weeks.
