Microsoft and Ubitus have recently signed an agreement to bring Xbox and possibly Activision games (if the purchase is successful) to the cloud. The agreement is for ten years.

Video games in the cloud are a growing sector of the gaming industry. So Microsoft has seen a great opportunity and, to reach a wider audience, has signed an agreement with Ubitus. Microsoft’s primary goal is to bring all its games to any platform.

Ten-year agreement between Microsoft and Ubitus

Microsoft has not yet been able to get the regulatory authorities to approve the purchase of Activision Blizzard. However, the company has not stopped closing deals. First, it did it with Nintendo, then with Nvidia; this time, it has done it with Ubitus, the cloud gaming platform. All these agreements intend to have their games available to the broadest possible audience.

Phil Spencer was in charge of announcing this news; he did it a few days after it was announced that Microsoft is associated with Booisteroid, another cloud gaming service.

The objective of the agreement between Microsoft and Bitus

All the deals we have already mentioned have been made by Microsoft, seeking approval from European regulators. The objective is to get approval to close the purchase of Activision.

Since the purchase of Activision was announced, several regulators have opposed the acquisition.

One of the biggest concerns is that it will restrict the developer’s most popular game, COD, to its services and exclude all users of other services. But, on the other hand, there is also the concern that it will generate higher prices and fewer options for users.

So with this move, Microsoft hopes to convince the regulators that, so far, have not given the go-ahead. In this way, it will not have to resort to one of the solutions that have been proposed, which is to sell the COD franchise.

According to some reports, European regulators could consider approving the purchase. However, for now, we must wait until April 25, when the conclusions on the acquisition will be made public. Nevertheless, in case of a positive response, this could help to convince other regulators who do not see the purchase favorably.
