Three great players of IEM Katowice

IEM Katowice showed the world who the number one team in CS:GO really is. G2 Esports entered the competition as favorites and proved to be unstoppable. Only Heroic managed to win one map against them, in the Grand Final.

But apart from some of G2’s players, there were plenty of other great individuals at this tournament.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovac

NiKo had a very impactful performance and was regularly among the best players on the server. It’s clear that he changed his role a little bit. We used to see him get played in positions where he had to take the most important shots for the team. Now he’s more of a player who tries to outmaneuver the enemy and find gaps.

NiKo’s former role is now played by Nemanja “huNter-“ Kovac, who is regularly getting a lot of kills and carries the team largely thanks to what the other players are doing for him.

Casper “cadiaN” Moller

CadiaN has become Heroic’s most valuable player thanks to his strategic skills. As an IGL, his contribution is felt in every single match and there are very few IGLs in CS:GO who can outplay him at the moment.

At IEM Katowice, cadiaN’s match against Natus Vincere was a masterclass. His team won both maps with a score of 16-8 and even Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev was shocked by what Heroic were doing.

In the end, s1mple had to admit defeat but blamed some of his teammates for it. For those who watched the match carefully, this was more of a case when both teams perform to the best of their ability but one is guided by much better tactics and strategies.

Heroic ended up in second place after their failure to beat G2 in the Grand Final. It’s worth noting that the map won by the Danish team against NiKo and his crew was the only victory registered by any team at this event.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut

It’s hard not to mention ZywOo on this list when he is so good in every single match that Team Vitality plays, regardless of the opponent. The only problem at the moment is that he seems to be competing without sufficient help from his teammates. Apart from Lotan “Spinx” Giladi, nobody seems to be as capable as he is.

At the highest level of CS:GO, the difference between success and failure is made by very small things. And most of Vitality’s players don’t seem to have the ability to keep up with those of teams like G2, Heroic, and Team Liquid.
