The thrills of ESL Pro League S18 Group B continue, and the Brazilian squad, MIBR, continues to give a lot to talk about. This time, the boys from MIBR qualified for the Mid Bracket semifinals after an excellent 2-1 victory over Monte Esports.
There is no doubt that this is a clear confirmation that the team is solid and that the addition of the two former FURIA players, Rafael “saffee” Costa and André “drop” Abreu, was a perfect fit. On the other hand, Monte suffers their second tournament loss and will now have to play for their lives in the Lower Bracket.
Now, without further ado, let’s see what happened in the match between MIBR and Monte in the Mid Bracket of Group B of the ESL Pro League S18.
MIBR apply a reverse sweep to beat Monte Esports
There is no doubt that we all expected a tight and balanced series, and the teams did not disappoint. Monte and MIBR left everything on each map, giving us an exciting BO3. In addition, the fact that Monte won the first map gave an extra ingredient to the series.
The BO3 between MIBR and Monte was played on Vertigo, Anubis, and Mirage.
Vertigo
It all started on Vertigo, an almost obvious choice for the MIBR boys, where the Ukrainian squad struck the first blow by taking a resounding victory. In addition, with Monte on their T-side in the first half, they took an excellent 10-5 partial victory, thanks to Sergiy “DemQQ” Demchenko, who was inspired in the match. Then, at the change of sides, Monte’s supremacy continued, and they managed to take the victory on the first map by 16-6.

Anubis
Then, the teams moved to Anubis, Monte’s map pick, where things took an unexpected turn, as, this time, the Brazilian squad took the baton and managed to take the partial victory by 10-5. However, at the change of sides, Monte woke up and tried to hit back by getting closer to 12-15 on the scoreboard, but this was not enough, as MIBR won the last round to take the victory on the map by 16-12.

Mirage
Finally, in Mirage, we had another pitched battle between these two teams fighting for the pass to the Mid Bracket semifinals. It all started with a spectacular first half where Monte took the partial victory by 8-7 on their side T. However, this only made MIBR wake up; with the help of Breno “brnz4n” Poletto (114.7 ADR and 1.98 Rating), they managed to win 9 of the 12 rounds to take the victory on the map by 16-11.
MIBR will face MOUZ for Group B’s third playoff spot in this ESL Pro League S18.
