M4 World Championship group stage recap

The Group Phase of the M4 World Championship, which began on January 1, is now over. Remember that this tournament has a juicy prize pool of $800,000, where 16 teams gave us epic battles during the first four days of the competition.

As we mentioned in a previous article, the Group Stage consisted of four groups of four teams each, which competed in a round-robin format at the Bali United Studio in Indonesia.

Group Stage – Recap

The two best teams of the group decade have qualified directly to the Upper Bracket of the knockout stage of this M4 World Championship 2022, while the other two teams will play for their lives in the Lower Bracket.

As we know, in this system, the teams that are in the Upper Bracket have two lives. So, even if they lose a match, they can fight to stay alive in the Lower Bracket. But, on the other hand, the Lower Bracket teams cannot lose a single game.

Best teams in the Group Stage

As we can see in the image, Falcon Esports and Blacklist International led Group A and will face Onic and RRQ Akira, respectively, in the next phase. Both teams won their two matches and lost one in the Group Stage.

On the other hand, Todak displayed admirable potential and won all three matches in Group B to take first place. Onic Esports, on the other hand, lost the first match and beat the other two to finish in second place.

In Group C, Team Echo won all three of their matches, while the famous Indonesian team RRQ Hoshi placed just behind them with two wins and one loss.

RRQ Akira and Team HAQ were the best teams in Group D, as they finished with 2-1 records to advance to the Upper Bracket of the M4 World Championship knockout stage.

Most outstanding players of the Group Stage

YumSkie, Todak’s player, was one of his team’s most essential players in the Group Stage. Well, the player had a spectacular performance against Malvinas and Onic Esports.

Falcon’s Naomi and RRQ Akira’s Luiizz stood out on matchdays two and three for their respective teams. On the other hand, Team HAQ’s Panda won the star player award on day four. This is because the player had strong performances in decisive matches.

Starting on January 7, 2023, the teams will face each other in the nine-day MLBB M4 Knockout Phase. The first match will have Falcon facing Onic and Echo facing Team HAQ.

The next stage of this M4 World Championship will be played at the Senayan Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The grand final of the M4 World Championship 2022 will be played on January 15, 2023.
