Remembering the late Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener, Valorant pros have come forward to reinitiate the initiative of donating “$25 per Shorty Kill” at the VCT Masters Tokyo event.
Back in February 2023, Twisten himself initiated this noble cause during VCT LOCK//IN, committing to donate $25 for every shorty kill at the event, supporting a mental health charity. Sadly, Twisten is no longer with us, but Valorant Pros are carrying on his legacy. With a focus on fighting depression, Twisten’s dedication has reinspired this movement, encouraging others to contribute and make a positive impact.
For each shorty kill at VCT LOCK/IN Sao Paulo I will donate 25€ to the charity. Let the show begin.

Tarik came to support the charity
In a heartfelt tribute to Twisten’s memory, the VCT community expressed their desire to honor his legacy. Ryan ‘RyanCentral’ Horton, a commentator and analyst for VCT, proposed the continuation of Twisten’s pledge, wherein he donated €25 ($27) for each shorty kill during VCT LOCK//IN.
This suggestion resonated with numerous figures in the VCT community, who decided to embrace the same commitment for Masters Tokyo. Among them is Tarik “tarik” Celik, a popular VALORANT content creator and former CSGO professional, along with Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield, Nathan “leaf” Orf, Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen, and several others.

Uniting their efforts, they are dedicated to contributing funds to mental health organizations, emphasizing the importance of addressing this critical issue. This collective gesture serves as a powerful testament to Twisten’s impact and the unity within the Valorant community.
Esports organizations across the world are tributing Twisten
During the showmatch between Global Esports fighting and Velocity Gaming at the VCT South Asia Split 2, the rounds were started with full shorty tributing late legend. Furthermore, In the Grand Final of the North American Challengers League, the teams M80 and The Guard paid tribute to Twisten by starting their match with a round using only Shorty pistols. Tarik, who was watching the Masters on his live stream, saw this meaningful gesture and felt motivated to join in as a way of showing appreciation.
The highly anticipated VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo will showcase twelve elite teams representing EMEA, the Americas, the Pacific, and China. With a group stage spanning June 11-14, followed by thrilling double-elimination playoffs from June 16-25, fans and players will eagerly embrace this format.
The event is expected to be cast and live-streamed on VCT channels on Youtube and Twitch, ensuring comprehensive coverage and enabling fans to immerse themselves in the major tournament in their preferred languages.
