Legends of Runeterra World Championship 2022 qualifiers revealed

Riot Games continues to tease their fans with details of the Legends of Runeterra World Championship 2022. This time, the publisher revealed how players can qualify for the event, the tournament structure and when the game’s new patch will arrive. 

Following the release of the latest game expansion titled “A Curious Journey” back in February, Riot Games has now announced a seasonal tournament of the same name. The event is set to take place from  May 7 – 21 and will be a culmination of the A Curious Journey ranked LoR season, which kicked off on February 16.  

According to Riot’s official statement, the road to LoR World Championship 2022 will include three qualifying seasons: 

  • Season 1: May 25 – July 19 
  • Season 2: July 20 – Aug 30
  • Season 3: Aug 31 – Oct 11

Players can qualify for LoR Worlds 2022 via ranked points as well as placing in the top four at a seasonal tournament.

While Riot didn’t yet share the exact date of the World Championship, it did share that the event will be held during the season running from October 12 to December 6 and that it will be split into three separate tournaments. 

The Legends of Runeterra World Championship 2022 tournament structure includes: 

  • Regional Qualification Weekend
  • Group Stage Elimination Round, featuring the top 16 players
  • Finals, featuring the top  players 

New Legends of Runeterra patch

Riot Games also announced that the new game balance patch will be released before the start of the World Championship so that players can get acquainted with the changes. The last LoR patch was released on April 26, see the changes below.
