We’ve once again entered spoiler season and, frankly, it’s hard not to get hyped for what’s to come! The final expansion of the H1 2021 LoR roadmap will be called “Rise of the Underworlds,” and, needless to say, it’ll be packed with all kinds of goodies!

So far — in the span of just a couple of hours — we’ve gotten official confirmation as to who the three final champions will be, along with a novel keyword, and a bunch of new cards to break down! And, seeing how we’ve only just begun, you can expect new reveals and announcements over the coming days as well!

There’s quite a lot of ground to cover, so let’s dive straight into the nitty-gritty!

FRG LoR Lurk Rise of the Underworlds

Paving the way for Rek’Sai

LoR | New Keyword ‘Lurk’ Announced

There’s a brand-new keyword called “Lurk” and, well, it’s quite an interesting one. When a Lurker unit attacks — and another Lurker is on top of your deck — all Lurker allies everywhere will gain +1 | 0 (to a maximum of once per round).

It’s still unclear at this point just how potent this keyworld will end up being, but it does have a fair bit of potential.

LoR | The Final ‘Rise of the Underworlds’ Champions

The three final champions that will be released alongside the “Rise of the Underworlds” expansion are Ekko, Rek’Sai, and last but certainly not least Pyke — from Piltover & Zaun, Shurima, and Bilgewater, respectively. Rek’Sai is generally best known as a creature from the Void, but she’s been operating a lot in Shuriman lands as well, so it makes sense for Riot to slot her in as a Shumira-based champion.

We’re talking about three very distinct champions, each of which has its own pronounced strengths and weaknesses. It’ll be interesting to see how well the folks over at Riot have managed to transmute their abilities and idiosyncrasies into the world of LoR! That’s arguably the most exciting thing and, fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out!

Expect the first champion reveal in just two or three days!

FRG LoR Rise of the Underworlds Cards

A slow start, but an interesting one nonetheless

LoR | New ‘Rise of the Underworlds’ Cards

Fallen Feline” is a 1 mana unit from P&Z with 2 | 1. Once summoned, it’ll create a “Hexite Crystal” in the bottom 10 cards of your deck.

Hexite Crystal” is a 2 mana Fast spell from P&Z. Once you see it in a Prediction, you’ll automatically get to draw it, too. Activate it to deal 2 damage to all enemies and the enemy Nexus. Overall, quite an interesting spell that packs perhaps a bit too great of a punch!

Snapjaw Swarm” is a 2 mana unit from Bilgewater with 0 | 2 and the Lurk keyword. Once you play it, it’ll start a free attack.

Xer’Sai Hatchling” is a 1 mana unit from Shurima with 1 | 1 along with the Fearful and Lurk keywords. Nothing overly impressive, but a solid early game unit nonetheless. It’s obviously more of a fodder for Lurk-based strats and upcoming Rek’Sai decks.

The latest LoR expansion “Rise of the Underworlds” is slated to hit live servers on June 30th, so stay tuned for a lot more coverage!
