The VALORANT competitive scene continues to witness different movements in the lineups of the VCT teams. This time, we have Cloud9 announcing their new lineup for the upcoming VCT season.

This is, without a doubt, great news for the fans, the team, and the competitive scene since C9 had a disappointing end of the season. Moreover, this also puts an end to all the rumors and speculations on the internet for the past few weeks. On the other hand, with this new lineup, Cloud9 seems to be completely ready to face VCT 2024 in the best possible way and with their sights set on the VCT Americas League champions trophy.

Cloud9 announce its new VALORANT lineup

Through a video posted on its official Twitter/X account, Cloud9 announced its VALORANT squad heading into the upcoming VCT season.

While it is true that the team renews some familiar faces for the 2023 season, it also introduces some players who were on the team’s radar for several weeks. Moreover, this only confirms the rumors we published recently.

As we reported several days ago, Cloud9 completed the signing of IGL Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, Maxim “wippie” Shepelev, and Francis “OXY” Hoang. It is worth mentioning that vanity returns to the team after he was dropped following C9’s disastrous result at VCT LOCK//IN 2023. On the other hand, it’s also fair to say that C9 signed Ian “Immi” Harding as the team’s new Head Coach.

For everyone who followed the VALORANT Challengers scene, the names OXY and wippie are no strangers, as we saw them playing under the G2 Esports banner throughout the season. Also, Immi was with them as Head Coach. While G2 couldn’t even play the VCT Ascension Americas, both OXY and wippie showed a great level of play that undoubtedly surprised many, including C9.

OXY is one of those North American talents that many teams would like to have in their squads, while wippie has high competitive experience in both CS:GO and VALORANT.

Cloud9 and his irregular season

Cloud9 had an irregular season marked by different ups and downs. It all started with the team’s terrible performance at the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023, where they lost to DRX by 0-2 and thus being eliminated from the tournament. As a result, the team surprisingly decided to drop vanity and Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker.

Then, with a completely revamped lineup, Cloud9 had an impressive VCT Americas League, fighting neck and neck with LOUD for the top of the table. However, in the playoffs, they could only secure fourth place.

Finally, the team failed to qualify for VALORANT Champions 2023 after not performing well in the VCT LCQ Americas, leading the organization to wipe the slate clean for 2024.
