World-renowned Argentine footballers, Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero, have invested in a Counter-Strike 2 roster under their esports organization KRÜ Esports. The new roster will field four Argentine players.

KRÜ Esports, known for its Latin American roster in the professional Valorant scene, has decided to expand its presence in the esports industry. With retired football player Agüero as the main founder, World Cup champion Messi wanted in and was recently appointed as the organization’s co-founder.

Though the football GOAT candidate isn’t known to be an avid gamer, he was seen advertising KRÜ’s Valorant bundle on his Instagram story to his 500 million followers, the most cost-effective type of marketing you could possibly get.

The players who will represent the KRÜ flag in Counter-Strike are:

  • Roberto “reversive” Themtham
  • Nicolás “lenci” Lencinas
  • Joaquin “atarax1a” Biglieri
  • Sebastian “righi” Righi
  • Eduardo “laser” Chshekin
  • Ignacio “nch” Devita (coach)

The KRÜ Counter-Strike squad will be led by a 31-year-old reversive, who is brimming with experience. He will be accompanied by local prospects, whom Agüero believes in, claiming they are some of the best Counter-Strike players Argentina can offer.

With the support of two successful athletes, the KRÜ roster will be provided with all the facilities they possibly need, including an experienced coach in the form of nch. The entire squad is already settled in the team’s boot camp facility.

It will be interesting to see how the squad performs in the South American region. Can they compete with the region’s biggest names, such as FURIA and Imperial?

Argentina has not produced any household names in Counter-Strike history, but the KRÜ team is looking to be the first. The team does not have any tournaments scheduled in the near future but is hard at work and practicing. We can expect to see KRÜ make its debut in an open qualifier for a big event.
