FaZe Clan win the HCS Global Invitational DreamHack 2023

Last weekend, specifically June 2-4, 2023, the 16 best Halo teams in the world battled it out at the HCS Global Invitational DreamHack 2023. This tournament was played in Dallas, Texas, and had a prize pool of $125,000. There is no doubt that it was an unparalleled tournament with many, many exciting matches. However, FaZe Clan was the team that rose to be crowned champions on the competitive Halo scene for the first time in their history.

FaZe Clan is a well-known organization thanks to its CS:GO division’s achievements and the excellent results of Atlanta FaZe in the Call of Duty League. However, this becomes the first time the team has managed to be at the top of the Halo competitive scene.

FaZe Clan are the DreamHack 2023 champions.

After a perfect run without losing a match, FaZe Clan was crowned champion of the HCS Global Invitational DreamHack 2023 by defeating Spacestation Gaming 4-3 in the grand final. Moreover, this becomes the first time in the organization’s history that they are on top of the podium in a Halo tournament.

There is no doubt that FaZe Clan’s domination of the tournament was from start to finish. In Pool Play, FaZe had a perfect 3-0 record. Then, they beat teams like Native, Hive, and Spacestation Gaming (twice).

OpTic Gaming was the clear favorite to win this tournament, as the team’s performance in recent months has been exceptional. In addition, OpTic comes from winning the Year 2 Kickoff Major and the HCS World Championship 2022. However, the team was eliminated in the Lower Bracket semifinals by Native Gaming Red.

As mentioned, this is the first time the organization has won a tournament at the highest competitive level in the Halo scene. Unfortunately, while it is true that FaZe had shown a great level at the beginning of 2023, they could not beat OpTic Gaming in the Year 2 Kickoff Major.

Next stop: HCS Arlington Major 2023

With the conclusion of DreamHack 2023, the table is set for the next event, the HCS Arlington Major 2023. This tournament will be played from June 30 to July 2, 2023, with a prize pool of $250,000, where the 16 best teams in the world will leave sweat and tears in every match.

Let’s remember that the HCS Arlington Major is one of the most important tournaments during the entire HCS season, and, in addition to the cash prizes, the teams play for HCS Points, which are indispensable for the end of the season.

While it is true that OpTic was completely deflated in the Lower Bracket of this DreamHack 2023, they are still the favorites to take the victory in the HCS Arlington Major. However, we will now have two stronger and more confident contenders, FaZe Clan and Spacestation Gaming.
