Week 2 of LEC Winter 2024 ended with a lot of interesting results. Karmine Corp was defeated three times again and occupies last place in the league with 0 W – 6 L. This has been a disastrous performance so far and there are no signs that things might improve for Targamas and his teammates.

For Team BDS, the exact opposite happened. This competitor, who finished 7th, 2nd, and 5th respectively last year in LEC Winter, Spring, and Summer, is now perfectly positioned to win the group stage of LEC Winter 2024, having five wins and one loss in the first six matches.

To make matters even more bizarre, not a single member of BDS is highly accomplished or even remotely famous. The best of the five is Adam, who finished Worlds 2021 in 14th – 16th place while competing for Fnatic. But that’s it.

This goes to show just how much can be achieved with hard work, determination, and good cohesion. In LoL, anything’s possible. Especially when the game changes relatively frequently thanks to the patches that are introduced.

Week 2 results

In week 2 of LEC Winter 2024, G2 Esports won two matches, against MAD Kings and Team Heretics, and lost one, against Team Vitality. Fnatic did the same, losing against BDS but winning against Rogue and GIANTX.

SK Gaming, despite finishing week 1 with a perfect record of 3 W – 0 L, accumulated two losses in the second week of the split.

At the moment, Karmine Corp and Rogue seem doomed to lose the opportunity to compete in the playoffs. In Rogue’s case, there is still hope because they do have one victory while the 8th team in the league, GIANTX, has only two.

In the third and final week of the group stage, Rogue will have a real opportunity to win two matches because they’ll face Karmine Corp and GIANTX, their direct competitor. If they win the first match, which they should, all they need to do is win against GIANTX and they will most likely qualify for the playoffs.

It’s very hard to imagine GIANTX winning their other two matches of the week because they’ll have to face G2 Esports and MAD Lions. Both of these teams are much stronger than them.

Fnatic, G2, and SK could still surpass BDS in the standings table but they will need at least two victories in the last three matches. Don’t forget that week 3 will be played between January 27 – 29.
