Last Sunday, February 12, G2 Esports won the IEM Katowice 2023 in an extraordinary evening. The trophy that G2 had been chasing for so long and that had escaped them so many times in the end. It finally arrived in the showcases of the organization.

This was undoubtedly the result of a legendary winning streak consolidating G2 as the best CS:GO team. One of those responsible for this is Justin “Jks” Savage, who, as he approached the trophy, no doubt must have been reflecting and expressing his gratitude for that extraordinary call that ended up resurrecting his career and benefiting CS:GO.

The Australian seemed to have a love-hate relationship with the event held in Poland. However, the player proved how well he fits in IEM Katowice with two outstanding performances in which he won back-to-back trophies.

Jks made history on Sunday at IEM Katowice by completing a back-to-back with two teams. A year after achieving it with FaZe Clan, the Australian became champion with G2 Esports. It’s been about a year since that call-up, which marked redemption in the career of a Jks who starred in yet another act of justice in CS:GO.

Jks once again ranks among the top CS:GO players

Given the reality that was his lot in life, the Jks of early 2022 would not even be able to predict what would happen to him in the future correctly. However, that’s not minimizing himself. After being moved to the bench of the disastrous Complexity project, the Australian’s career was shrouded in uncertainty. Although the player knew how to put himself in the spotlight alongside the Renegades and get some fame, he was hoping for a miracle in the middle of nowhere. Finally, that miracle with a name and surname would knock on his door one January afternoon.

Finn “karrigan” Andersen contacted Jks to stand in at IEM Katowice 2022. Karrigan requested Jks’ assistance, and the FaZe Clan team’s response was to follow their captain’s lead despite the uncertainty.

Jks is crowned EMI Katowice 2022 champion as FaZe Clan’s stand-in. Not only that, but his outstanding performance would once again earn him the respect of the top CS:GO teams.

Jks, who had bet his future on living in Europe, would eventually be offered a project to match in July 2022. G2 Esports hired Jks to help build a new group of players to support their stars. By defeating G2, Jks would ascend to the top of CS:GO and join Samurai. The team that was trying to achieve the coveted ascension.

Jason Lake, CEO of Complexity, provided Jks with public support after his performance at IEM Katowice 2022; to fund his life in Europe and his pursuit of a new opportunity.

JKS returns to Spodek Arena in an incredible performance

Jks and the Samurai set off for Katowice, having played an essential role in ending G2’s title drought. The goal was obvious: to avoid making a worse impression than the last time and to look for the additional one that the team could not find.

Jks showed an incredible level in Katowice, similar to the FaZe Clan jersey. The Australian’s reunion with the Polish competition was like a movie scene; it was the madness of a G2 that altogether seemed unstoppable. And so it was; G2 Esports signed a historic competition in which the samurai won the coveted prize without finding an opponent to defeat him.
