The Russian organization Virtus.pro announced changes in the Dota 2 lineup for the rest of the season. The new players for the “bears” are Belarusian Artsiom “Fng” Barshak, who will occupy the fifth position and the role of captain, and Russian Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov, who represented the Belarusian organization, Nemiga Gaming, for the last year.

Many esports organizations are trying to improve their squads for the rest of the season due to poor results or simply for extra-sporting reasons. However, all the changes are in the same direction: to create a better squad to fight for trophies in each Tour.

Virtus.pro has announced a significant reshuffle in the Dota 2 lineup

After the team failed to get the quota for the Dota 2 Lima Major, the organization made a radical decision. As mentioned, experienced player Artsiom “Fng” Barshak returns to what was his home for many seasons and, above all, that successful 2015-16 campaign. At the same time, Kiritych is a promising player from whom great things are expected in the Dota 2 competitive scene.

Valve’s banning wave affects VP

The first wave of bans in recent months by Valve directly affected this popular Russian team. Recall that Virtus.pro had signed Kamil “Koma” Biktimirov as one of its main spearheads for the 2023 season. However, Valve permanently banned the player, which led the organization to seek solutions to this problem immediately.

Virtus.pro had a lot of trouble finding a replacement for Koma, as at the time, the free agency market had already dried up, and the reserves had a limited number of players. So at that time, Alexandr “krylat” Krylatov was chosen and decided to accept the spot left by Koma in the lineup.

The addition of krylat was not enough for the team this early in the season, and the team failed to qualify for the Dota 2 Lima Major. Keeping in mind that there is always a period when organizations make changes to their squads, Virtus.pro has decided this opportunity to strengthen themselves in the best possible way before the start of the second Tour.

Virtus.pro hopes that this balanced lineup of young and experienced players will help them achieve that formula that will lead them to victory. Also, if we look at fng’s track record with VP, we can expect the team to have a completely different face in the second Tour of the season, and the team hopes to qualify for the Berlin Major.

In three days, the Eastern European DPC will kick off, and VP will face the HellRaisers, a team with a revamped lineup, in their opening match.
