On the second day of the LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage, G2 Esports and Team BDS got a great start in Group A, defeating KOI and Team Heretics, respectively, to advance to the Winners Match. As a result, both teams will have two chances to seal their ticket to the tournament playoffs.

On the other hand, both Team Heretics and KOI fought until the end, but they could not defeat their rivals. However, both teams still have a chance to stay alive in the tournament, so they must win the next BO3 they play.

Without further ado, let’s see what happened on the first day of Group A in the Group Stage of the LEC Summer Split 2023.

G2 Esports crush KOI 2-0

The Spanish squad was practically submissive against a G2 Esports that came with everything to this Group Stage. KOI could not do much against G2, who overwhelmed them with absolute ease thanks to Steven “Hans Sama” Liv and Rasmus “Caps” Winther.

There was no truce or wait; G2 Esports came to this Group Stage to get rid of their rivals as quickly as possible to seal their ticket to the playoffs, so they proved against KOI. As a result, KOI will now have to play against Team Heretics in a Spanish duel to define the team that remains alive in Group A.

There is no doubt that G2 surprised everyone with Hans Sama’s choice of Kalista, as this champion is not at her best at the moment, but the French shooter made the most of it. On the other hand, we have Caps, with Neeko and Tristana, who was the engine of G2 Esports throughout the series. Finally, we can highlight that KOI’s game was not splendid and clean, but it was enough and enough to crush KOI 2-0 in this first match of the Group Stage.

Team BDS come from behind against Team Heretics to complete a remarkable reverse sweep

Team Heretics’ first step in this LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage was a tough loss to Team BDS in a match that indicated that the Spanish squad had completely dominated. However, Spring Split runners-up Team BDS won thanks to a spectacular reverse sweep.

Team Heretics had control of the match at different game moments, as Victor “Flakked” Lirola continues to be in great form. In addition, his combination with Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié’s Kai’Sa and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowsky’s Trundle made the Spanish squad win in the first game.

However, that wasn’t enough, as Team BDS managed to overrule Flakked in games two and three to complete the reverse sweep and advance to the Winners Match of Group A. Ilias “nuc” Bizriken with Jayce wreaked havoc on Summoner’s Rift and Team Heretics found no way to slow him down.

Finally, Team BDS proves that what they did in the Spring Split was not a coincidence, and now, they will look for their pass to the playoffs against G2 Esports.
