DRX has announced that their star Valorant duo Goo “Rb” Sang-Min and Kim “Zest” Ki-seok have been moved to the reserve roster, making them restricted free agents.

The Korean Valorant powerhouse, DRX has officially moved the long-standing duo of Zest and Rb to the bench, making them restricted free agents ahead of the 2024 season. The team’s substitute player Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung and 18-year-old player Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk from the DRX Prospects academy will take the place of the two.

DRX bench veteran players Zest and Rb

Zest and Rb have been vital parts of the Korean team since their illustrious days as Vision Strikers. They contributed to the history of Vision Strikers with an amazing run of 103 straight victories in the inaugural year of VALORANT, making them two of the most successful Korean players to date.

The star duo of Zest and Rb helped DRX win several regional Korean titles and routinely made it into every international competition, for a total of eight appearances. Even though they haven’t won many championships, they have always been a formidable opponent in international events. Some of their best results include a third-place finish at VALORANT Champions Istanbul 2022 and a second-place finish at VCT Pacific 2023.

The 2023 season saw DRX fall in the standings, though, as they were unable to match previous international performances. DRX improved upon their 7-8th finish at VALORANT Masters Tokyo by reaching the semi-finals at VCT Champions Los Angeles. However, their overall performance remained average throughout the year.

DRX’s new Valorant lineup

As a result, DRX has officially benched Zest and RB, the long-standing duo, to make place for Flashback and Foxy9, the younger players. Flashback was added to the DRX Prodigies in August, and throughout the off-season, DRX has been giving him a slot in the starting lineup. Following Valorant Champions 2023, the VCT Pacific squad participated in three off-season competitions and experimented with new lineups throughout those matches.

As for Foxy9, he was added during the off-season of 2022, but he hasn’t had the chance to thrive in the starting lineup consistently throughout 2023, only playing in Masters Tokyo and the 2023 Playoff Grand Finals. In his brief career, Flashback has primarily played Sentinels and Vipers, whereas Foxy9 has demonstrated that he is primarily a Duelist entry player when he has filled in for the squad. However, as of yet, the organization has not officially confirmed their positions in the starting lineup.
