LEC Season Finals 2023 Preview

The League of Legends competitive scene season is very close to its end, and with Worlds 2023 just around the corner, many teams are looking forward to what will happen in the qualifiers that will be played in the coming weeks. While it is true that some teams are more favored than others, there is no doubt that we will have excitement from start to finish.

Speaking specifically of the LEC, the three direct slots to Worlds 2023 and the Worlds Qualifying Series will be played in the LEC Season Finals 2023, which will be played in the coming weeks. This end-of-season tournament brings together the most consistent teams in the EMEA region, 6 of them in total, to fight for a prize pool of €160,000 and, most importantly, qualification for Worlds 2023.

LEC Season Finals 2023 – Details

The six most consistent teams from the entire LEC Season 2023 will battle it in the season finals tournament to fight for a place at the next Worlds. The LEC Season Finals 2023 will be played from August 19 to September 10, 2023.

Thanks to the victory of G2 Esports in the Winter and Summer Split, they got their direct qualification to this tournament and, without any doubt, are the main candidates to take the champions trophy.

On the other hand, we have MAD Lions, who qualified because of their victory in the Spring Split 2023. Finally, Team BDS, EXCEL Esports, SK Gaming, and Fnatic close the six teams that will play for the spot for Worlds 2023.

LEC Season Finals 2023 – Format

As usual in this kind of tournament, the format of the LEC Season Finals 2023 will be the Double Elimination bracket. On the other hand, all the matches that will be played in this season’s finals will be best of five (BO5).

As mentioned, the teams that finish in the TOP 3 of the tournament qualify directly for the Worlds 2023. Meanwhile, the team that finishes in fourth place will have to play for their lives in the Worlds Qualifying Series, where they will face the team coming from the LCS.

Matches Schedule

The LEC Season Finals 2023 will last for 3 weeks, that is, from August 19 to September 10, 2023, and we will have the following opening matches:

• MAD Lions vs. EXCEL Esports – August 19 at 16:00 CEST
• G2 Esports vs. Team BDS – August 20 at 16:00 CEST

The winners of these matches advance to the Upper Bracket Final, while the losers will face Fnatic and SK Gaming, both of which start their adventure in this tournament from the Lower Bracket.

There is no doubt that G2 Esports is the clear favorite to win this tournament. However, nothing is written about this type of event, and any of their rivals can give a very pleasant surprise.
