LCS Spring 2024 started with eight matches that left no doubt in people’s minds that Cloud9 are still the strongest LoL team in North America.

FlyQuest also got two victories in week 1 of LCS Spring 2024, but after what happened last year, we need to be a lot more prudent in assessing their strength. Sure, they have great players like Jensen and Bwipo, but unless they stay focused for the entire duration of the league, they could easily go from winning streaks to losing streaks that ruin their chances.

Week 1 results

Here are the matches that were played on week 1 of LCS Spring 2024:

Team Liquid vs. 100 Thieves: 0 – 1

Liquid lost this match against 100T despite having three South Koreans on their roster. They didn’t play poorly, but they didn’t make the best decisions either. The game ended in 35 minutes.

NRG vs. Cloud9: 0 – 1

Cloud9 were expected to perform well against NRG, despite what happened in the Grand Final of LCS Summer 2023. NRG won that match 3 – 1, and then finished 5th – 8th at Worlds. Since then, they changed their support player IgNar and signed huhi.

For Cloud9, the situation also changed significantly at the end of 2023. They now have two Canadians: Jojopyun and Vulcan. Both of them seem to be very capable players.

FlyQuest vs. Shopify Rebellion: 1 – 0

FlyQuest gained a small advantage over SR almost from the start, but the match was hard for both sides. FlyQuest eventually won thanks to a successful offensive action around the 30-minute mark.

Immortals vs. Dignitas: 0 – 1

Immortals played the last match of day 1 against Dignitas, and lost with their Jax plus Azir combo against Vi and Corki. This match lasted for 38 minutes, despite the massive lead gained by Dignitas in the first 20 minutes.

Team Liquid vs. Shopify Rebellion: 1 – 0

Team Liquid defeated Shopify using Udyr and Lulu, two champions we don’t see very often picked together. SR tried a Lucian / Corki combo but they weren’t able to execute it well enough.

Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves: 1 – 0

C9 defeated 100T in just 30 minutes, using Akali and Varus. 100 Thieves tried a very eccentric strategy, with Nocturne and Senna, but were read like a book.

Immortals vs. FlyQuest: 0 – 1

This match consolidated FlyQuest’s position and proved that their first victory wasn’t a fluke. Most likely, they will continue to win for now.

NRG vs. Dignitas: 1 – 0

NRG obtained their first victory of the season against a very ambitious Dignitas, surprising them with a Tahm Kench pick.
