On January 23rd, 2023, the Open Qualifiers and the LCQ concluded, so we already have the six teams that will play the Knights NA Challengers. The top-ranked player throughout the qualifiers was Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo, from the now-disbanded team “The Nation.”

Rossy took it upon himself to receive a lot of praise from the community, players, and analysts, thanks to his excellent performance in the playoffs. That is why the player has caught the attention of one of the most vital esports organizations, FaZe Clan.

FaZe did not enter among the VCT partners and was invited directly to the Knights NA Challengers.

The Nation

One of the most followed teams at the Open Qualifiers was the one created by former professional CS:GO player Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip. The team, in addition to the CS:GO legend, featured Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo, Tanner “TiGG” Spanu, Matthew “Wardell” Yu, and Braxton “brax” Pierce.

The team started with giant strides by defeating ODU Monarchs, StarlessGG, and OTF to qualify for the Top 32. Next, the Nation defeated DMG, Dark Ratio, and Silk Road to fall to Break Thru 1-2 finally. This sent Stewie2K’s team to the Lower Bracket, where they lost in Fracture by a score of 10-13 to Dark Ratio. Rossy completed this phase with 220 ACS and 1.20 K/D.

On the other hand, in the Last Chance Qualifiers, The Nation advanced quickly to the round of 32. But, after big wins over Kitten Shelter, Soniqs, and 99 strength, they lost to Squirtle Squad 2-1 and fell to the Lower Bracket.

Finally, The Nation lost to Soniqs in the Lower Bracket to be eliminated from the competition. On this occasion, Rossy had an ACS of 250 and a K/D of 1.43.

After being eliminated, the 19-year-old, following his outstanding performance for The Nation, announced that he is no longer looking for a team.

FaZe Clan to sign Rossy

FaZe has been one of the best teams in the VCT since its inception. But, last season, they failed to qualify for international LAN events. This is one of the reasons why the team is not included in Riot Games’ partnership program for VCT 2023.

Now, with the announcement of the Challengers, FaZe is one of the teams directly invited. The team currently has four players:

  • Andrej “BABYBAY” Francisty
  • Kevin “POISED” Ngo
  • Quan “Dicey” Tran
  • Phat “Supamen” Le

Strong rumors indicate that this season’s fifth FaZe Clan player will be Rossy. Moreover, the player himself hinted at his signing with FaZe in his stream.

Either party has not confirmed this information. However, there is a good chance that this could happen in the next few hours. With Rossy, FaZe will have a solid lineup to fight for the top spot in the VCT Challengers division.

Faze Clan takes on G2 Esports, led by veteran Shahzeeb “ShahZaM” Khan, in the opening match of Knights NA Challengers Split 1.
