With the season officially closed, all Call of Duty League teams are unveiling their plans for what will be the near future of their lineups for the upcoming season. The NY Subliners’ victory in the CDL Championship 2023 marked the end of the season, and many teams that did not live up to the competition or the season will be making many changes to their squads.

One of these teams starting to announce their moves is LA Guerrillas, who have dropped three of the four players from the team’s lineup. The team announced all this in the last few hours.

There is no doubt that this is completely expected news considering the team’s results in this season that has just ended. On the other hand, the team will also have to wait for the different teams in the CDL to start making changes, as they will not want to incorporate Challengers players in their lineup.

LA Guerrillas announce the departure of three players

LA Guerrillas announced the departure of three starting players from last season’s CDL through an official statement on their Twitter account. As a result, these players are Adam “Assault” Garcia, Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale, and Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero.

JoeDeceives, Exceed, and Assault are now unrestricted free agents, so they can look for a new home in any other CDL team. Also, this tells us that the team wants to build their new lineup around Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson. On the other hand, it is also worth noting that the team also decided to release Mehran “Mayhem” Anjomshoa and Arian, who were part of the Guerrillas’ coaching staff.

LA Guerrillas’ terrible season

There is no doubt that LA Guerrillas was one of the worst teams in the entire CDL in their 2022-23 season. In addition to missing the season playoffs (CDL Championship), the Californian squad finished second to last (ranked #11) in the overall standings. On the other hand, it is also worth noting that the team could only take home $10,000 in prize money this season that just ended, following its 7th-8th place finish in the CDL 2023 Major Stage 2.

At the same time, it is no surprise that LA Guerrillas decided to stick with only Arcitys in their starting lineup for the upcoming season. This player was a former world champion and Atlanta FaZe star. Also, this experienced player will most likely be part of the draft for his new teammates.

These three players leaving LA Guerrillas join a list of Free Agents that is undoubtedly growing exponentially. It’s worth noting that OpTic Texas also surprised everyone by releasing Cuyler “Huke” Garland and Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe. In addition, Minnesota ROKKR decided to exit their entire lineup entirely.

Uncertain future for the CDL

Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the start date of the upcoming season. Recently, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the release of Modern Warfare 3 in November 2023. As a result, if this is confirmed, the new season will likely start on similar dates to the previous one, so the first Major would be played in December or early January.

Finally, we will likely continue to observe how teams change their lineup in the coming hours. In addition, we must take into account that the contracts of most of the players expire on July 2, so there will likely be many changes shortly.
