The LPL Spring 2023 is over, and JD Gaming, the most consistent team of the season, were crowned champions by defeating BiliBili Gaming by 3-1. This final was undoubtedly marked by another of the LPL’s iconic duels, Zhuo “knight” Ding for JDG and Zeng “Yagao” Qi for BiliBili Gaming.

There is no doubt that JDG is a more than deserved winner in this LPL Spring 2023. During the regular season, they demonstrated a spectacular level of play, finishing in first place overall with a 13-3 record. Then, they did the same in the playoffs by beating every opponent they faced.

In addition to being the grand final match of the LPL Spring 2023, this match served as revenge for BiliBili Gaming, as both teams faced each other in the Upper Bracket semifinals. On that occasion, JDG achieved a victory in extremis with a score of 3-2. However, now the development of the match was completely different, and JDG could win with a little more tranquility.

JDG Gaming advanced to the grand final of the LPL Spring 2023 after crushing EDward Gaming 3-0. At the same time, BiliBili Gaming had to play against Oh My God (3-2) and EDG (3-2) in the final of the Lower Bracket.

Grand Final Recap

It all started very well for JDG, as two key battles at the beginning of the first match gave them a big lead. After Peng “Xun” Li-Xun stole the first dragon, JDG responded in such a way that they got two kills thanks to Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and his excellent performance with Jinx.

After a back-and-forth in the Mid Lane between Knight and Yagao, JD Gaming took total control of the match to take the first victory. All this, thanks to an excellent performance by Knight.

In the second match, we saw BiliBili Gaming and little more comfortable, as they managed to select several champions that had worked for them to reach the grand final. However, so that the strategy did not have any effect, JDG banned Camille.

After a great level shown and spectacular aggressiveness by Support Luo “ON” Wen-Jun, JDG took a 13-3 lead in kills and 6,000 gold. While champions Ahri and Rakan tried to keep BiliBili at bay, the rest of the team concentrated on taking down Baron.

Finally, JDG secured the 2-0 lead in less than 23 minutes, giving them full peace of mind heading into the rest of the series.

BLG reacts and puts pressure on JDG

In the third game, BiliBili changed the hero’s selection, undoubtedly catching JDG off guard. Because of this, we saw JDG have a completely defensive draft for the first time in the series.

After a great battle fought, especially in the Top Lane, BiliBili won in 34 minutes, keeping the hopes of winning the championship title alive.

Finally, BLG tried to apply the same dose in the fourth match of the series with an equal or very similar selection in terms of heroes. However, this time JDG wasn’t going to stay on the defensive, and with his arms folded, Knight wreaked havoc on Summoner’s Rift to give his team much more confidence. The 22-year-old Chinese managed to maintain a perfect 5/0/5 KDA until nearly the end of the game.

Then, with a huge 16-7 lead in kills, 7,000 gold, and Chemtech Dragon soul, JDG didn’t take his foot off the gas and managed to smash BLG and thus take the 3-1 victory.

With that, JDG became the LPL Spring 2023 champion and took home no less than approximately $290,000.
