The LEC Spring Split 2023 continues its course in these playoffs, and we have MAD Lions, who took revenge and beat G2 Esports to stay alive in the tournament. Moreover, with this victory, the Spanish team condemns G2 Esports to play the Play-In phase at MSI 2023.

MAD Lions got an excellent 3-2 victory to advance to the final of the Lower Bracket, where they will face Team Vitality to define the second finalist of the tournament. So, finally, what is certain is that we will have a new champion this spring season, and we will know it next Sunday, April 23rd, 2023.

Great match between MAD Lions and G2 Esports

The LEC starts the last weekend of the Spring Split 2023, where right now, there are only three teams alive, and only one of them will be able to secure their pass to the MSI and, of course, the Champions trophy. We are just a few days away from the start of the MSI, so the tension in each game will be felt with the teams leaving their lives to achieve this coveted classification.

The champions of the Winter Split, G2 Esports, tried in every possible way to hurt the Spaniards and thus be able to take the victory. However, MAD Lions never gave up and achieved an excellent 3-2 victory.

Now the Spaniards will have the very complicated task of facing Team Vitality to determine which team will play the grand final against Team BDS tomorrow.

MAD Lions shows cold blood in the playoffs once again

Undoubtedly, this best-of-five series started with G2 Esports dominating, as the boys led by Rasmus “Caps” Winther managed to sweep the first match. G2 managed to dominate every corner of the Summoner’s Rift, and, thanks to that, they struck the first blow in the series.

MAD Lions were surprised by immediately getting up from the big blow they received in the first game, and they did it spectacularly. Javier “Elyoya” Prades with Lee Sin and Kim “Chasy” Dong-Hyeon with Kennen managed to deny G2 Akshan completely. After this was annihilated several times by the Spanish team, the game started to be interrupted by different bugs. However, MAD Lions remained focused and evened the series 1-1.

With the series tied, MAD Lions managed to take advantage of their drive and the bewilderment of G2 Esports to win the third match. This time, Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer with Gragas greatly influenced the Summoner’s Rift on the Spanish team’s side. However, he had the help of Elyoya to stop the rival insinuations.

With this victory, MAD Lions put G2 on the ropes, and we went to the third game.

In the third map, G2 Esports changed the formula in their choice of champions and surprised MAD Lions with the Lucian-Nami duo. In addition, Caps also had a great performance thanks to a medium Nocturne. All these changes were perfect for the winter champions, as they crushed MAD Lions to even the series 2-2. Steven “Hans Sama” Liv was the architect of this victory to send the series to the fifth and decisive game.

MAD Lions advance to the Lower Bracket final

Finally, and with silver scrapes in the background, MAD Lions was able to take revenge on G2 after they crushed them in the final of the Winter Split. Elyoya was the hero again in this fifth game, leading his team one step away from a second consecutive Split final. In addition to the fantastic game played by the Spanish Jungler with Wukon, Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság, with his classic choice, Ezreal, also had a great game to help his team win.
