How to play Brimstone in VALORANT

Brimstone, one of the precursors of VALORANT, is an agent that is good to pick when playing VALORANT for the first time. This is because he is a straightforward agent to control and his abilities are simple.

However, this does not mean that Brimstone is a weak agent. Quite the opposite, if we go to the history of characters in shooters, we will find out that they usually have specific skills that tend to be among the best and the most used.

Brimstone Abilities

Brimstone is one of the five available controllers that exist in VALORANT, and the first controller that can be used when starting, as the rest are locked at the beginning.

He has four abilities — two that are purchasable before each round, one ability that resets each round, and one ultimate. However, Brimstone is one of the few heroes with no passive ability.

His first ability is Stim Beacon, which, when activated, launches a stimulus beacon at a nearby target. It emits a “magnetic” field that increases the player’s firing speed, equipment speed, reloading speed, and movement.

The second ability is called Incendiary. Brimstone will charge a specific weapon and fire a Molotov-shaped projectile. This can backfire several times to create a persistent zone of fire.

Brimstone’s signature ability is Sky Smoke. When used, the agent deploys a tactical map to select an area of the map and launches a smoke there. This ability has up to three charges, and if you use all three in one round, the player is provided with at least one charge at the start of the next round.

Finally, Orbital Strike is Brimstone’s ultimate. As in Sky Smoke, the agent uses a tactical map, but this time to fire a persistent laser over the selected location, which inflicts heavy damage over time.

Brimstone’s style of play

Brimstone’s equipment and abilities are made to open powerful gaps in the opposing team’s defense. His instant smokes help position teammates, and, in addition, the Stim Beacon empowers players in a big way.

Players using Brimstone must be clear that they must be decisive, as his quick plays can make this agent the cornerstone of any team.

Brimstone’s Weaknesses

There is no doubt that VALORANT is a tactical game that needs a player in each role for everything to work ideally or at least attempt. The great weakness that Brimstone has is the size of the tactical smoke map, as he will not have a global presence as a controller on large maps, so it is not recommended to use him.

However, Brimstone with each of his abilities is lethal on smaller maps with narrow areas. Likewise, it is advisable to use Viper or Harbor as teammates to complement each other with smoke-spewing agents.

Maps like Bind and Fracture are among the most potent for Brimstone, and it is also where he is being played the most.
