Veteran Kim “glow” Min-soo has announced his retirement from professional play. The 33-year-old broke the news shortly after his VALORANT team, Vision Strikers, failed to make it through to the VCT Masters Reykjavik, the games’ first international tournament. His retirement spells the end of a 13-year career, which started with Counter-Strike team Lunatic-Hai in 2008.

He also played for WeMade FOX, redCode, Project kr and MVP PK during his time in CS:GO. The South Korean favourite moved to VALORANT in 2020, with the in-game leader having helped Vision Strikers in becoming one of the top teams in the region.

How glow Helped Vision Strikers in VALORANT

With glow on board, Vision Strikers won a record 104 matches, along with four draws and just two defeats. However, a loss at the hands of NUTURN Gaming at the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Two Challengers meant that the team failed to qualify for the Masters Reykjavik.

Speaking on his Twitter page, glow posted the following:

“Some people may question my decision. But taking into consideration my age and the future success of our team, I think that this is the right time for me to retire.”

“My time as a player was coming to an end and I myself felt this the most especially over Challengers One and Challengers Two, where we ended up shocking a lot of people with our loss and where I felt that my ceiling as a player was at its limit. I believe that Vision Strikers will develop even further [without me] and become an organization that not only conquers the domestic scene but the international stage, as well as other endeavours.”

Who Will Replace grow at Vision Strikers?

Vision Strikers have yet to provide any indication as to who will replace glow in their lineup, with the VALORANT Champions Tour Masters Berlin getting underway in September, featuring 16 teams from around the world. Glow will undoubtedly be missed, with the veteran having regularly recorded more kills than his position would suggest.
