¡Bad news for fans of the OG Esports organization! In a recent statement, they said the organization’s time at VALORANT has ended. However, they do not rule out the possibility of a return in the future.

Official statement from OG

In the statement made by the team, it is detailed that it is not a definitive or permanent departure, as OG has left open the possibility of returning to Riot Games’ tactical shooter in the future. But for now, without being selected for VCT 2023 as partner teams and without players, the organization says goodbye to VALORANT.

OG Esports and LDN UTD, a UK-based organization, announced their partnership in June 2022, which consisted of LDN UTD’s VALORANT team, to be called OG LDN UTD. This is while playing in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Challengers tournaments.

The organization’s statement detailed:

“Once the team found their new homes, we regrouped and carefully evaluated our options, ultimately deciding to take a step away from the VALORANT scene. We would like to thank each and every one of you who supported us since day one, tuned in to our games, sent us love through socials and supported our teams over the past years. We truly appreciate all your patience and love through the highs and the lows, and we hope to continue seeing your support for us in the future.”

Recall that Riot Games announced its 2022 partnership program, and in September, all the organizations that would be part of the 2023 VCT were revealed. Unfortunately, OG Esports and other UK organizations, such as Excel Esports and Guild Esports, were left out of the program. They also said:

“We applied to the [Riot Valorant] Partnership Program and successfully made it to an interview with Riot. Unfortunately, we were not one of the teams chosen in the end. Our next steps were to discuss internally about what the best step moving forward would be.”

About OG

OG Esports began their foray into VALORANT in 2021 when they signed the Monkey Business lineup. This roster featured players such as Kevin “TviQ” Lindström, Dylan “aKm” Bignet, and Benjamin “uNKOE” Chevasson, all of whom were significant personalities in the Overwatch League.

But, the lack of significant results forced the organization to change the roster constantly. In June 2022, they announced their new lineup after partnering with LDN UTD to form OG LDN UTD.

This new lineup finished with a 9-10 record in the VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers. Then finished in fourth place in the VCT LCQ. However, their performance was not as expected, and they failed to qualify for the VCT Champions 2022.

Future of OG

Currently, the organization does not have a VALORANT lineup. They allow their players to explore new options and join other teams. All players have in mind to join some VCT franchised team.

Despite the team’s poor performance, there is no doubt that the organization is top-rated. This makes their fan base essential and, above all, loyal.

We hope that soon we will once again have such a successful organization in the VALORANT competitive scene as OG has been in esports in general.
