Gran Turismo World Series 2023 announced

The 2023 edition of the Gran Turismo World Series esports competition has recently been announced. The new season, featuring a Showdown event in Amsterdam, marks the debut of a new format that will be used in the Team Nations Cup.

The two main events of the World Series Esports of the famous Gran Turismo racing simulation platform, the Manufacturers’ Cup and the Nations’ Cup, return with modifications for the new season.

The new Gran Turismo World Series season returns after a successful LAN finale in Monaco.

All those Gran Turismo 7 lovers who own a PS4 or PS5 can participate in the qualifying rounds. In these qualifying rounds, the best drivers will be selected to compete with the professional drivers of the World Series.

All qualified drivers will compete if it takes place in Amsterdam during August; we are talking about the “August Showdown.”

After that event in the summer, the finals will take place during December; however, the details of where they will be held have not been revealed.

The new format for the new season of the Gran Turismo World Series

For 2023, the format of the Nations Cup has undergone the biggest change. Usually, it is an individual competition where the fastest driver in the game world is chosen. In this championship, the driver of the “fastest” nation is crowned.

The Manufacturers’ Cup, on the other hand, is a team competition. These teams are made up of three drivers who represent a team. For this new season, the Manufacturers’ Cup maintains its trio format, and the Nations Cup will no longer be solo but in trios.

However, the youngest drivers who get a place through the open classification for the Showdown will team up with the current Nations Cup champions.

Gran Turismo World Series New Season Schedule

Open Qualifying has begun, and seven online qualifiers will be held for the Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup. All qualifying rounds take place until July 1st.

After that, the Showdown event takes place in Amsterdam on August 11 and 12. Finally, the finalists who will fight for the championship title on December 2 and 3 will be announced at the summer event.

On the other hand, the grand final of the “Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup” also takes place in December. Therefore, it is important to note that the qualifiers for this tournament have already begun.

Finally, let’s remember that in the next Olympic competition, Gran Turismo 7 is one of the esports that will be disputed; however, these competitions are not part of the World Series 2023.
