Canadian esports org Luminosity Gaming have revealed a Rainbow Six roster, marking their return to a game they have not been active in since 2020.

The roster was formerly known as the Wichita Wolves and recently participated in the Gamers Without Borders charity event under the name ATK. Luminosity will take the team’s spot in the North American Challenger League.

Luminosity sign R6 roster

On April 16, 2020, Lumonsity announced they would disband their Rainbow Six roster, effective immediately. The org was not a major player in the scene, having primarily competed at the US Nationals. Their biggest claim to fame was a second-place finish in the North American open qualifying for the 2020 Six Invitational.

However, they now return with a brand new roster. Wichita Wolves/ATK have a degree of pedigree to them. As the Witchita Wolves, the roster won North American Challengers Stage 1 earlier in 2022. While their success did not carry over to Gamers Without Borders, they still finished ninth at the global event.

“Eddy”, “Silent”, “Julian”, and “Ferda”, along with head coach Waiffer “Waiffer” Sibaja, and analyst Moisés “Tiseis” Oliveira all join Luminosity directly from ATK. The final member of the team, Connor “Azian” Felux, joins as a free agent who most recently played for Witchita Wolves Red, the former academy team of Witchita Wolves. Luminosity will take the Witchita Wolves’ spot in the North American Challenger League, whose second Stage will likely start in the coming weeks.

The move signals that Lumonisity is content to slowly build their Rainbow Six team into a contender, working towards the ultimate goal of promotion to the North American League and beyond.

Luminosity will also have some modicum of competition within NA Challengers. The league is home to 1shotLFO, an orgless team that made waves by winning the North American Open Qualifying for the Six Invitational 2022. Luminosity will also have to face the academy team of Gaimin Gladiators, who run a North American academy team despite their primary roster playing in the APAC region.

Fans welcome back Luminosity

The fan reaction to the roster reveal was overwhelmingly positive, with the Rainbow Six community excited to see the return of the major brand. There was a further outpouring of love for the fact that they had signed the ATK roster, who had garnered something of a cult following.

While the start date of the North American Challengers League Stage 2 is yet to be announced, it’s certain when it begins, Luminosity Gaming is going to have some very loud fans indeed.
