The LCS Summer Split 2023 playoffs are in full swing, and we are very close to finding out which three teams will get a direct ticket to Worlds 2023. However, before that, we must enjoy the defining matches of the semifinals of the Upper and Lower Bracket of the playoffs.

In this opportunity, we have that Golden Guardians continue to demonstrate an exceptional level of play and exceed all expectations to eliminate Dignitas and advance to the semifinals of the Lower Bracket of the LCS Summer Split playoffs. In addition, it is also worth mentioning that, with this victory, Golden Guardians broke one of the longest streaks in the history of the LCS.

Golden Guardians apply a clean sweep against Dignitas

There is no doubt that this Golden Guardians lineup continues to surprise everyone in this 2023 season. In the Summer Split playoffs, the team applied a spectacular clean sweep against Dignitas to continue their race for one of the three direct slots to Worlds 2023.

On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that, with this victory, Golden Guardians ends Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen’s streak of 7 consecutive years qualifying for Worlds.

Jensen decided to leave Cloud9 for the third time in his career to try to reap success under a new banner. However, this time he failed to qualify for Worlds 2023 with Dignitas. On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that Dignitas was a team with a complete mess in their lineup, and, despite having many veterans on the team, they suffered a lot throughout the Spring Split.

Rich and Diamond gave the team hope

After finishing 10th in the Spring Split, Dignitas signed David “Diamond” Bérubé and Lee “Rich” Jae-won for the Summer Split. While it is true that Dignitas had several ups and downs during the regular season, they managed to qualify for the playoffs, giving hope back to the team.

However, Dignitas had to start their playoffs directly in the Lower Bracket, so they had no margin for error. In the first game, they defeated TSM, but then they had to face Golden Guardians, which, without a doubt, was a complete surprise when they lost to NRG in the Upper Bracket.

Dignitas fought until the end in each of the three games against Golden Guardians, but it was not enough, and they ended up being crushed by a terrible 0-3 that sent them directly home. Therefore, they will have to watch Worlds 2023 from afar.

The LCS defines its three qualifiers for Worlds 2023

Next Sunday, August 13, 2023, the LCS will define its third qualifier for Worlds 2023 after finding out the winner between Golden Guardians and Team Liquid. On the other hand, remember that NRG and Cloud9 already have their tickets sealed to the top event in the LoL season, as they secured their place in the TOP 3 of these playoffs.

C9 and NRG will meet in the coming hours to find out the first finalist of the LCS Summer Split 2023.
