GODSENT has surprisingly parted ways with its CS:GO academy line-up Young Gods, which consisted entirely of Brazilian players. The organization has also withdrawn from the ongoing WePlay Academy League Season 5 just a day after the event started, which resulted in all of the team’s games being forfeited. It’s still unclear what’s next for the Young Gods line-up, however, they seem interested in staying and playing together.

GODSENT fielded its Academy roster only for about nine months. Starting in December 2021, the team first competed in multiple ESEA Cash Cup events before making their debut in the WePlay Academy League during Season 4. However, after finishing 6-6 in their group, they finished their WePlay Academy run by losing to FURIA Academy in the playoff decider.

Reasons for dissolution

In a statement for HLTV, Henrik Denebrandt, CEO of GODSENT, explained the reason for dropping the organization’s CS:GO academy line-up, saying that since the organization no longer fields a Brazilian main squad, it no longer makes sense to house a Brazilian academy team in Europe. The organization sold off four players from its main roster along with the coach to 00 Nation at the end of June.

Denebrandt also added that the organization made an attempt to register a new team for the Academy League, but the application was rejected by WePlay. Based on his words, he respects the decision and takes full responsibility for it.

Furthermore, Denebrandt also mentioned rebuilding GODSENT CS:GO division with the goal of coordinating the organization’s academy and core teams for “maximum output”. Lastly, he revealed the org’s plans to acquire a new main line-up soon, with “some interesting possibilities” still open at the moment that have not yet been formally discussed.

What’s next?

According to a report by Dust2, the former Young Gods squad seeks to continue playing together, with the exception of Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo, who might be reportedly signing with the Brazilian organization Paquetá Gaming. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

How the Young Gods will continue is unclear, but it is likely that they will try to find a new organization that will take them in together.  Nevertheless, the squad is a promising CS:GO roster, so it will be interesting to see if and which organization decides to give them a new esports home.

Here’s the former Young Gods roster:

  • Bruno “brn$” de Araújo
  • John “lineko” Lineck
  • João “Snowzin” Vinicius
  • Leonardo “n9xtz” Santos
  • Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo
