While Mercedes-Benz had sponsored other esports in previous years, this is the first time it’s South Korean branch has done so. Moreover, it is not unreasonable to think that it has been a wise move, as in T1, we have one of the game’s legends, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. However, the rest of his teammates are also players of the highest level in the worldwide LoL competitive scene.

According to the official announcement, T1 will be sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Korea until the end of 2025. Moreover, starting from MSI 2023, which is currently underway, we will observe T1 players playing in new jersey, which is undoubtedly beautiful. Furthermore, in addition to the players’ apparel, Mercedes-Benz plans to hold different events in South Korea to encourage LoL fan participation.

This announcement marks the end of SK Telecom T1’s sponsorship with BMW. This luxury car brand has also been in the esports scene since 2020 and currently sponsors major organizations such as Fnatic, G2 Esports, FunPlus Phoenix, and Cloud9.

Mercedes Benz and its commitment to esports

There is no doubt that Mercedes-Benz Korea signs this agreement with one of the best LoL teams in the world with the firm conviction of, in addition to supporting esports, getting to expand its customer base of the EQ brand.

Thomas Klein, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, said in a press release:

“Mercedes-Benz has been continuously innovating and taking on challenges to create ‘cars that everyone will envy.’. This spirit aligns with the spirit of challenge shown by T1. Through the sponsorship with T1, a legendary team in League of Legends, the unique value and innovation of the Mercedes-Benz brand, as well as its vision of sustainability, electrification, and luxury.”

On top of all this, the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+, an all-electric, ultra-high-performance luxury sedan, has been assigned to LoL legend Faker. While there is no confirmation yet if the player will own the car, it is known that it has been provided to him.
