One of the most surprising teams at the recently concluded BLAST.tv Paris Major, Apeks, has decided to terminate the contract of its Assistant Coach, Pål “Polly” Kammen.

This decision marks Polly’s farewell to an organization he belonged to for four years, where he spent some time as a player but for the last three years as a coach.

Polly announces his departure from Apeks

After a spectacular career in the Paris Major, Polly has decided to leave Apeks to pursue new opportunities in his coaching career. There is no doubt that this 32-year-old coach has been one of the pillars of the excellent level demonstrated by a team that, being Level 2, managed to reach the semifinals of the Paris Major.

As we can see in the official statement, Polly emphasizes that, after four years, he considers that his end in the organization has come. In addition, he also points out that he feels just as motivated as he did when he was a CS 1.6 and CS:GO player, now that the launch of Counter-Strike 2 is looming.

Finally, the 32-year-old veteran encouraged teams needing an experienced coach to contact him to help them meet their goals.

About Polly

Pål “Polly” Kammen is a 32-year-old Norwegian CS:GO coach with extensive experience in the competitive scene of Valve’s shooter. His beginnings as a player date back to the CS 1.6 era, but there is no doubt that he made a name for himself when he came to Apeks in January 2019.

Polly was one of the key pillars for Apeks to rise from the ashes this early 2023, as the team was able to bounce back from a period of many negative results, where even with legend Richard “shox” Papillon, they were unable to live up to expectations. However, as a result, in September 2022, the team withdrew from all tournaments it participated in due to its terrible performance.

However, after shox left the team, Apeks signed Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski on December 30, 2022. Since then, Apeks has been a completely different team, showing a high level in every online tournament. For example, Apeks took second place in the last two editions of the CCT WEU, losing in the grand final to Monte on both occasions.

Apeks’ excellent run at the Paris Major

After qualifying for the Paris Major, everyone considered this team as one of the underdogs to advance, even from the Challengers Stage. However, the team had the determination and drove to overcome expectations and crush top-level competitive opponents such as Team Liquid (on a couple of occasions) and NiP. Ultimately, the team fell to the reigning Major champions, Team Vitality, in the semifinals.

There is no doubt that Polly has contributed to the formation of this formidable Apeks team that has given so much to talk about. From joining in 2019 as a player to being a head coach and assistant coach for the past three years, the experienced Norwegian can say that he has been very important in helping a Tier 2 team finish in the top four of the Paris Major.
