The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2022 season officially ended this Sunday, December 18, after the BLAST Premier World Final Grand Final match between Team Liquid and G2 Esports, which left a more than deserved champion, G2.

Now, all CS:GO fans will have to wait until January to enjoy a great tournament, but the last event of 2022 left many good feelings and closed a season full of surprises and revelations.

G2 Esports: Well-deserved champion

One of the most popular organizations in the world, not only in the CS:GO scene, but in all esports, G2 Esports, managed to return to the top in the BLAST Premier World Final beating the extraordinary North American team Team Liquid in the grand final.

G2 Esports has had an up-and-down year in 2022. After starting the season with second place in the Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Katowice after losing the final against FaZe Clan 0-3, they had a year to forget and even failed to qualify for the IEM Rio Major 2022.

But they closed the year with this magnificent victory against Team Liquid, which makes us even more anxious for the start of the 2023 season with the quality that currently exists in each team worldwide.

This pair of G2 Esports Grand Final victories marks the team’s first Grand Final in 1092 days since winning the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 Regular Season.

Team Liquid vs. G2 Esports – Grand Final

The Grand Final was played on three of the most played maps in this BLAST Premier World Finals, Inferno (G2 selection), Mirage (Liquid selection), and Anubis (decisive).

Inferno – G2 Esports win

On the first map, G2 Esports began demonstrating the path this Grand Final would go down. Despite some mistakes in the first four rounds of the first half, G2 pulled off a spectacular Terrorist side, winning 11-4.

The start of the second half continued this trend, as G2 won the first three rounds to come within two of taking the first map. Then, finally, they managed to make the last round and win the map 16-7.

For G2, jks continued to demonstrate his excellent level with a spectacular performance which ended with a K/D of 21-9 and 95.7 ADR. While NiKo, with a good clutch in the decisive moment of the map, giving the necessary encouragement to his team.

Mirage – G2 Esports win

The most popular map in the CS:GO scene, Mirage, was a thriller from start to finish, but G2 Esports, thanks to some spectacular last rounds of the team’s star, m0NESY, managed to take the victory with a score of 16-12.

Although Team Liquid selected Mirage as the second map, they could not be in front of the scoreboard at any time and G2, with the help of NiKo, was able to take a victory that, for some moments, was in doubt.

The first half was 9-6 in favor of G2 Esports, with jks and huNter- stopping each of Liquid’s attacks.

In the match’s second half, Liquid tried to react and come back, but a few rounds by NiKo and m0NESY at the end of the game denied them any chance of victory.
