Fortnite, one of the most popular games today, is reportedly returning to iOS in 2024 despite Apple’s removal of the famous Battle Royale video game from the App Store. However, we have good news for you, because there is a way how to do it already in January 2023.
Fortnite was removed from the App Store in 2020 after Epic Games broke the store’s purchase rules. In addition, they were introducing an additional payment gateway to Apple, thus skipping the 30% commission.
While many game clones are available, the official version is unavailable and cannot be downloaded on iOS devices.

How to play on iPhone and iPad in 2023
Currently, there is only one way to play Fortnite on an iPhone or iPad. Read on for a detailed guide with the steps to follow.
1. Sign up for the GeForce Now account
GeForce Now, the most popular cloud gaming service, is free to use. However, you must register for an Nvidia account on the official GeForce Now website to start.
During the registration process, you need to select your subscription level. For example, if you want to play Fortnite with graphics at maximum graphics and 120 FPS, you need to choose the RTX 3080 level. Luckily, running the game on iPhone and iPad with the free level is enough.
2. Add GeForce Now to the Home Screen
After you have your GeForce Now, you must add it to your home screen. To do this, press the share button in safari and select add to the home screen. The new application will allow you to play video games directly from your smartphone through the cloud.
3. Launch the app and play your favorite game
To start the game, you must launch the application and select Fortnite. You can likewise link your Epic Games account through GeForce Now.
It would help if you kept in mind that the free level of GeForce Now usually has a queue. This means you will sometimes have to wait up to 30 minutes to start a game. Moreover, with this free version, you can only enjoy one round per hour.
On the other hand, the paid levels have no queues and allow you to play as many times as you want.
Can Fortnite formally return to iOS?
Epic Games, specifically Fortnite, does not meet the requirements to be able to use an alternative payment method from the Apple store. However, the developer firm seems clear that it will take advantage of the new measures coming into force this year.
The European Digital Markets Act would force Apple to open its app ecosystem to third parties. Thus, allowing users to download applications outside the App Store.
It should be noted that it would only be possible to launch the game for iOS in Europe since there is no such regulation in the United States. It is still unclear whether Epic Games has another method to make Fortnite available again on iOS.
