Since the release of Apex Legends Season 16, there have never been so many players as now! When it comes to achieving Predator, new records for ranked matches are being set all the time, as more and more players have become interested in playing Apex competitively.

Now, a new Apex league aims to create the best possible environment for players to compete in the online ladder against the other players at the top of the leaderboard. Here’s everything we know about the first solo queue league in Apex Legends!

Alternative to the traditional ranking

An automated matchmaking service Realm has tweeted the details of a new official seasonal Apex league that aims to transform the traditional leaderboard into a more competitive experience. According to the announcement, the Solo queue format shall be used for all participating players. The season starts on April 1 and will run for three months. Registration is open from mid-March.

To qualify, players in North America must be at least Predator rank, while EMEA players must be at least Master rank. The Realm Solo Queue League will feature different tiers for lower-elo players, with their own prizes and season finals. More information on the ruleset and tournament structure will be posted on the Realm Pro League Discord server.

The introduction of a new alternative to the traditional leaderboard has been met with a very positive response, largely due to the recent surge in cheaters. Cheats are bad enough, but they negatively impact gameplay for professionals and content creators alike. The Season 16 leaderboard has been overshadowed by new documented hacks that take full control of player firing and reloading.

Realm is commended for this step

Realm’s private matchmaking network allows all players to compete in a safe space, and there are additional measures in place to keep cheaters out of the league. Players wishing to participate in the league must meet additional requirements outlined in Realm’s Discord Rules. This includes linking your account to the Realm website and checking previous Challengers Cup or Pro League qualifier results.

Despite concerns about their future and permanence, Realm has Respawn and EA’s full support for the league. All Realm League days do not coincide with ALGS Split Two and are distinct from ALGS or Challengers Cup dates. EMEA games will be played from 2PM-8PM CET and NA games thereafter from 2PM-8PM EST.

Many professionals and content creators have already expressed their excitement for Realm’s involvement in Apex. The last Pre-Season Finals featured a Captain Draft format and a $10,000 prize pool that featured multiple ALGS partner orgs including Element 6 and EMEA’s Fire Beavers.

All future Realm SoloQ League tournament matches can be followed on the official Twitch channel. The Realm website also has live updated stats and leaderboards for their events. There are plans for more Apex leagues and expansion to Call of Duty Warzone and Fortnite.
