GUILD Esports swept KRÜ Esports in a best-of-three series to reach the playoffs at VCT Masters Copenhagen. After falling behind 1-0, the British team staged a stunning comeback to force KRÜ to play the decider match.

GUILD is off to a strong start at VCT master Copenhagen, winning two consecutive matches in the group stage. In the opening match, Trex and Leo led the team to a 2-0 victory over OpTic Gaming. Now, with a 2-1 victory over KRÜ in the Group A winner’s match, the team secured the first playoff spot.

KRÜ VS GUILD – Match Summary

KRÜ  entered the best of three series on Bind with a 2-0 lead. They were unable to maintain their advantage for long, though, as GUILD immediately counterattacked ferociously, winning six rounds while losing only two.

After a few more rounds of back-and-forth combat between the teams, GUILD led the game 7-5 going into the second half. In the second half, KRÜ made a comeback and tied the series, sending the game into overtime. The team kept up their momentum in overtime, winning two more rounds to finish the map with a 14:12 victory.

At Fracture, GUILD adopted an offensive strategy that enabled the squad to quickly take a 3-0 lead. Even though their opponents repaired the damage by tying the series at 3-3, GUILD struck them again, this time even harder, winning six straight rounds. In the end, KRÜ could only manage to win three more rounds before GUILD snatched the map with a stunning comeback victory.

The last map in the series was Icebox, and it went much like the series’ first map, with the exception that this time KRÜ was in the lead going into halftime (7-5). With GUILD’s offensive rebound, the series moved into its second overtime. Despite losing two more rounds in overtime, GUILD came back to win three consecutive rounds, clinching the nail-biting series.

Upcoming Matchup

With this resounding victory, GUILD moves on to the upper quarterfinals, which will begin on July 14. The playoff matchups haven’t been decided since GUILD is the only team that has so far qualified for the playoffs.

KRÜ Esports, on the other hand, will play the winner of OpTic Gaming vs. LOUD’s decider match today. The team’s elimination at this point would be a huge letdown for LATAM because they never advanced to the finals of the Masters competition. However, the team has significant international experience thanks to their participation in three Masters tournaments and one Champions event, which could help them reach the playoffs.
