One of the game’s legends and, above all, one of France’s best players, Cédric “RpK” Guipouy, announced that he is retiring to compete professionally in CS2.

RpK is widely known in the CS2 scene, especially to those of us who are old school, as we remember his time in some of the best teams in France and Europe. In addition, the 34-year-old Frenchman showed a lot of quality in both CS:GO and CS: Source.

On the other hand, RpK’s retirement, or “LeTank” as he is known in the scene, lasted about 2 years, so we will have to see if RpK is the same in those times.

RpK announces his coming out of retirement to compete professionally in CS2

Through a post on his official Twitter/X account, RpK announced that he is coming out of retirement to return to compete professionally in CS2.

In the last two years, we have seen LeTank make different streams, proving there is still some level left in his game. However, after retirement, he opened a car shop called RpK Motorsport. Similarly, his announcement of his return from retirement may be somewhat unexpected in the community, as the 34-year-old Frenchman hasn’t officially played a single map in 2 years.

On the other hand, we are not sure why RpK decided to come out of retirement. However, everything points to that Showmatch match he played at Paris Major, which may have sparked the desire to compete.

About RpK

As mentioned, RpK always stayed with teams in his home country, France, and never decided to join an international squad. As a result, everything will depend on RpK’s willingness to communicate in a language other than French. Otherwise, getting a team at the highest competitive level won’t be very easy.

Also, let’s remember that the French CS2 scene has not been at its peak in recent years, as its main team, Team Vitality, is now international.

One way or another, RpK may not currently be a signing that Tier 1 teams are looking for, as in addition to his inactivity, we have that he has never played in international squads. As a result, he will most likely join or create a French team with young talent to begin his time in this new era of CS2.

On the other hand, if RpK gets a place in a professional CS2 team, he will have a chance to win trophies in 3 different titles. Remember that, during his career, he won tournaments in CS:GO and CS: Source. Moreover, the only player who achieved this feat for now is Finn “karrigan” Andersen, the IGL of FaZe Clan.
