The emotions of the IEM Sydney 2023 continue, and we already know the two teams that will be present in the tournament’s Grand Final. They are Complexity Gaming and FaZe Clan, two teams that have shown an impressive level of play throughout the tournament and are justly deserving of their achievements.
FaZe Clan punched their ticket to the tournament’s Grand Final after crushing MOUZ, the reigning ESL Pro League S18 champions, in the semifinals with a solid 2-0 score. This is nothing more than a reaffirmation that FaZe Clan seems to be returning to its competitive peak and wants to fight back to the top of the Counter-Strike scene.
On the other hand, despite their defeat, MOUZ also proved that their victory in the EPL S18 was not a coincidence, as they had to leave rivals like Vertex, NaVi, and BetBoom Team on the road.
Now, let’s see what happened in the match between FaZe Clan and MOUZ in the semifinals of IEM Sydney 2023.
FaZe Clan annihilates MOUZ to seal their ticket to the Grand Final
There is no doubt that FaZe Clan’s 13-0 thrashing of ENCE in the second match of the tournament’s Quarterfinals helped boost their morale and, above all, their confidence heading into the semifinals. At all times, Finn “karrigan” Andersen and his teammates were ahead on the scoreboard and managed to eradicate all of MOUZ’s hopes of advancing to the Grand Final of a Tier 1 tournament for the second time in a row.
The series took place at Nuke and Vertigo.
Nuke
It all started at Nuke, FaZe Clan’s map pick, where both teams came out ready to take the victory to start the series on the right foot. However, FaZe took advantage of their current level of play to take the first victory.
In the first half, the MOUZ defense had a lot of trouble containing the offenses of Robin “ropz” Kool and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken. However, they were able to win 4 rounds out of 12 to stay alive in the series.
Finally, FaZe Clan displayed an impenetrable defense to win 5 consecutive rounds to take the victory with a resounding score of 13-4.
.@ropz is just a league above in CS2 👏

Vertigo
Then, the teams moved to Vertigo, the MOUZ map pick, where we had a completely different and much more exciting match. However, the result was the same, i.e., a solid victory for FaZe Clan.
In the first half, FaZe Clan counted again on Twistzz, who had an outstanding game and led them to a 7-5 partial victory. With this result, the map was open because, as we know, it is a kind of 9-6 in the old MR15 format.
However, at the change of sides, FaZe Clan’s offense was again impeccable, and after 10 rounds (6-4), they managed to take the victory by 13-9 to seal their ticket to the tournament’s Grand Final.
.@FaZeClan HAVE DONE IT.
They take down @mousesports 2-0 to make it to the #IEM Sydney Grand Final!
