The Roobet Cup group stage is nearing its conclusion, with one match in each group left to decide who advances to the playoffs. However, the winners of the four groups have already been decided.

Because of the competitive format, these teams will not get any advantage in the playoffs for their results. But at least they can relax for now, knowing that they’ll compete in the quarterfinals.

Group A

In Group A of Roobet Cup, the main battles took place between FaZe Clan, BIG, and OG. FaZe Clan were expected to dominate this group not only because of their top position in global rankings but also because of the strength of their individual players.

FaZe won their first match 2-0 against OG but then lost against BIG. The second match was extremely close though — 16:14 on Dust II, 11:16 on Nuke, and 16:12 on Overpass.

What made the difference for BIG was Florian “syrsoN” Rische’s excellent form. The player had a rating 2.0 of 1.16, which was the highest on the server, along with Havard “rain” Nygaard’s.

FaZe will have a second chance at qualifying for the playoffs this Sunday, against the winner of the clash between Entropiq and OG.

Group B

The winners of Group B Cloud9 finished three of the four maps they played against Complexity and Astralis with a score of 16:7. Such results were expected from the former Gambit roster and champions from IEM Dallas.

Now we need to find out who will win the decider match and on paper, Astralis is much stronger than Complexity. The only weak point of Astralis seems to be their synergy. Asger “farlig” Jensen and Martin “trace” Heldt have not yet been fully assimilated with the rest of the crew, and it might take a few more months before Astralis can compete at maximum capacity.

Group C

In Group C, everything went according to plan for ENCE, who were the big favourites of the group. The Finnish team played against Eternal Fire (2–1) and MOUZ (2–1). Their victories weren’t entirely a walk in the park but in the end, Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer’s squad showed everyone why ENCE is currently ranked 3rd globally.

In the decider match, MOUZ will play against the winner between Eternal Fire and Imperial.

Group D

Unlike the rest of the groups, Group D was full of upsets. The two main favourites — Outsiders and FURIA — lost their opening matches and forZe then had an easy winners’ match against 9z. We’ll have to see what happens next but one thing is certain — either Outsiders or FURIA will not play in the quarterfinals. There’s also a slim chance that neither of them will qualify!
