Everything about Faker and T1

There is no doubt that this week has been one of the most complicated in recent times for one of the best League of Legends teams in the world, T1. After seeing the best player in the history of the game, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, leave their starting lineup due to an arm injury, they also released the news that Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong was stepping down as Head Coach of the team.

This undoubtedly left the fans and the team with many doubts on the scene, as they were to face DRX and Gen.G in the next two games of LCK Summer 2023.

Faker is the pillar of T1

Undoubtedly, the “Demon King,” as Faker is known in the LoL competitive scene, is the main pillar of T1 in the last 11 years of the organization. Moreover, there have been very few occasions where T1 went out to an important match without Faker in their lineup, and all these absences are due to strategy issues, not because of the player’s health.

However, everything is now of much more concern to the team, as Faker’s time off the bench will be at least two weeks. As a result, T1 must find a way for the team to achieve the right synergy to get positive results in this period. Also, considering their first two games without Faker in the lineup, where they lost to DRX and Gen.G by 0-2 scores, the team needs a change of scenery to become competitive again.

When is Faker scheduled to return?

A few days ago, T1 announced that Faker would not continue in T1’s starting lineup due to an arm injury. Then, a few hours after this news, Bengi decided to leave his position as Head Coach, but before that, he mentioned that Faker’s estimated downtime was 2 weeks. As a result, the “Demon King” would miss four T1 games in the LCK Summer 2023, and, according to calculations, he would be back for the July 21 game against HLE.

Faker is recovering from his arm injury and is just completing that first week. However, T1 lost both games they played without him. As a result, T1 is now in fifth place in the standings with a 6-4 record.

While Faker completes his recovery, Yoon “Poby” Seong-won will be the one to take over T1’s Mid Lane in the LCK. Poby is an extremely young player (17 years old) with very little experience playing at the professional level; even the two matches against DRX and Gen.G are his first in the top level of League of Legends. However, as things stand right now and the lack of top-level players on the market, Poby is the best option for T1.

T1 will have to make do without Faker and Poby in the next two games against Nongshim RedForce and Dplus KIA. However, this assumes that Faker will recover from his injury to return on July 21, 2023.
