The AMD Radeon RX 6400 and RX 6500XT have just leaked in great detail and, needless to say, they look mighty alluring! The more powerful of the two will be a “full implementation” of the Navi 24 GPU with 16 Compute Units and 1024 Stream Processors. As expected, it’ll require a dedicated power connector but a standard, run-of-the-mill 400W PSU will be more than sufficient. Its clock speeds are still a mystery, but Videocardz’s source claims its memory will be just as fast as AMD’s RX 6600. Not too shabby!

Last but certainly not least, it’ll ship with 4GB of GDDR6 memory (64-bit bus). It goes without saying, but this particular GPU is neither a powerhouse nor will it run Cyberpunk 2077 without a hitch. Still, for those with modest needs it’ll definitely suffice.

Something For Everyone’s Pocket

As for the AMD Radeon RX 6400, it’ll be even more modest in power. It’ll still feature the Navi 24 GPU die, but it won’t feature as many Compute Units (12 instead of 16) and the same goes for its Stream Processors (768 instead of 1024). It’ll retain the same amount of memory but will not require a separate PCIe connector as it’ll have a TDP of 75W. That doesn’t really sound promising, but gamers have been clamoring for a budget-friendly option that would “get the job done,” and AMD seems to have responded.

We still don’t know just how powerful it’ll be, but it’s obviously not geared towards those looking for the highest of frame rates and resolutions. If you’re content with 1080p and Medium settings, however, it’ll be sufficient.

Let’s Talk Release Date

According to numerous sources, both GPUs are slated to release in the first quarter of 2022, with the RX 6500XT being the first to hit the shelves. The slightly gimped AMD Radeon RX 6400 will then follow suit a few weeks afterward. Both graphics cards will be advertised as middle-of-the-pack 1080p GPUs, but you really shouldn’t expect any miracles as they’re oriented more towards demanding esports titles and the sporadic and infrequent venture into the AAA realm.

In any case, we’re glad that the budget-friendly segment of the market will finally have something new and alluring to offer, even though these two particular graphics cards might not be as powerful as we had hoped! Maybe NVIDIA has something better in store for Q1 2022? It sure wouldn’t be the first time! In any case, we’ll find out soon enough.
