The moves in the Call of Duty League organizations continue, and, this time, we have Dylan “Envoy” Hannon not returning to the LA Thieves lineup for the 2024 season.

As we know, as of July 2, 2023, players’ contracts on most Call of Duty League teams ended, so many are currently free agents. However, on many occasions, this moment lends itself to players returning to their teams but with new contract terms. However, that will not be the case this time, as Envoy himself announced that he will not return to the LA Thieves for the 2024 season.

Envoy announces he will not return to LA Thieves

Through a video on the official LA Thieves Twitter account, former world champion Envoy announced that he is not returning to LA Thieves for the 2024 season. Furthermore, in the video, the experienced player mentions that he decided to end his career playing for the Californian squad due to the “outlook” in which the CDL finds itself.

In the video, in addition to thanking LA Thieves for these two years with the team, Envoy mentions that, at this time, players must do what is in their personal best interest. As a result, the 23-year-old will be looking for a new home with a team he feels can contend for a championship.

About Envoy

Envoy’s beginnings in the competitive Call of Duty scene were in 2019, playing for Gen.G Esports. However, his CDL beginnings were at OpTic Chicago in 2020; at the end of 2021, he joined LA Thieves.

Playing for the California squad, Envoy lifted two important trophies, the CDL 2023 Major Stage 4 and, most importantly, the CDL Championship 2022. In addition, the team also took second place in Major II, as they lost in the grand final to Atlanta FaZe with a score of 2-4.

However, after the team’s good results during the season, LA Thieves ended in the worst possible way, as they finished in last place in the CDL Championship 2023 after losing 2-3 to Toronto Ultra and Seattle Surge.

Future of LA Thieves

Undoubtedly, one of the most affected teams in the CDL roster is the Thieves, as it seems they will have a total reorganization in the 2023 off-season. In addition to Envoy’s departure, it is also worth noting that, a few days ago, Sam “Octane” Larew announced his retirement as a professional.

While it is true that the 2024 CDL season is still a long way off, the team must move fast to find new players for its roster to start preparing in the best way.

In addition to these moves, in the last hours, it was reported that Envoy would have an agreement with Toronto Ultra, Zack “Drazah” Jordan with Atlanta FaZe, and Kenneth “Kenny” Williams with OpTic Texas.
