Group B of Elite League started well for the biggest favorites, including Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, and Tundra Esports. However, a lot of fan favorites played poorly and will need to do much better in the coming days if they want to qualify for the last stage of the tournament.

Group B Results

From the SEA region, only Aurora started well (1 W – 0 D – 0 L). The other two teams, BOOM Esports (0 W – 1 D – 1 L) and Blacklist International (0 W – 0 D – 1 L), looked considerably weaker than their opponents.

In the case of BI, they encountered their regional rival, Aurora. This time, 23 was in great shape. In their second match, Aurora played against the other SEA team, BOOM Esports, and drew.

Gaimin Gladiators faced BetBoom Team in the opening round and struggled in both games. They won the first one in 52 minutes and the second one in 77. The commentators had a lot of work to do to keep the audience entertained for such a long time.

BetBoom were stubborn in their approach and picked Leshrac twice. But each time, they lost in the long run. In one game they fell behind from the start. In the other, they had a massive advantage at one point but still lost after a failed team fight.

Team Liquid also played against Bet Boom and won. But their methods were much more efficient. Game 1 ended in 28 minutes. Game 2 lasted just 24. Both times, Liquid picked a powerful combination of heroes that had the potential to group up at the 15-minute mark and force favorable fights.

BetBoom tried Leshrac one more time just to convince themselves that they don’t know how to play it properly. They also picked heroes like Timbersaw, Viper, Axe, and Sven. These are not bad choices in Dota 2 patch 7.35d. But it all depends on how you combine them and how your opponent exploits his power spikes.

For Topson and Pure~, Tundra Esports’ first match went well. They had to play against BOOM and had a very solid performance. Heroes like Techies and Batrider helped them win game 1. In game 2, they picked a very bizarre combo: Faceless Void, Luna, and Death Prophet. Both games were over relatively quickly.

Xtreme Gaming did not play on day 1. They will play on day 2 and are expected to do well.
