Eastern Europe is about to enter Tour 2 of Dota Pro Circuit 2023. Unfortunately for the region, both Team Spirit and BetBoom Team failed pretty hard at the recent Lima Major. BetBoom finished eighth in their group, while Spirit had a better performance but only managed to secure a mediocre place: seventh-eight.

The glory days of this region seem to be far away but not all is lost. It’s a big mystery why BetBoom failed so miserably at the Major after they finished first in the region and didn’t lose a single match. In fact, they hardly lost any games!

What might have happened at the Lima Major

In BetBoom’s case, it’s likely that the high-intensity atmosphere created by the South American fans completely ruined BetBoom’s ability to focus. Most of their players are very young and playing on LAN is very different from playing in the comfort of your home.

For Team Spirit, this wasn’t that big of a problem because they’re used to competing in big tournaments. But for the likes of Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko, the lack of extensive big stage experience played an important role in the team’s downfall.

For the nth time we see an online champion crumbling under pressure at a LAN event. But now that we’re going back to their comfort zone, it’s pretty obvious that BetBoom should be regarded as the biggest favorites to win Tour 2 in Eastern Europe.

EEU favorites for Tour 2

In Eastern Europe, Tour 2 of Dota Pro Circuit starts on March 12. As usual, seven best-of-three matches will be played by each team over a period of three weeks. The favorites are listed below:

  • BetBoom Team
  • Team Spirit
  • HellRaisers

It’s hard to take anyone else into account because the remaining teams either have a lot of inexperienced players or have decided to make important roster changes that will likely downgrade their strength. So if they weren’t able to pose real challenges to BetBoom, Spirit, and HR in Tour 1, they’re certainly not going to do it in Tour 2.

By the looks of things, we will have another close race between BetBoom and Spirit. This time though, Spirit might emerge victorious. The fact that they scored points at the Lima Major while their opponents were completely humiliated should boost their confidence.

The result of the direct match between the two teams will likely decide the winner. This match is scheduled for March 18.
