The $1,000,000 CS:GO $1,000,000 tournament action at Gamers8 2023 is already in full swing, and in just one day, we have enjoyed many exciting and, above all, intense matches.

So far, all the favorite teams have delivered to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals, and ENCE, NaVi, and Team Vitality were no exception. These three teams are playing at a high level of play and achieved excellent victories in their Gamers8 2023 debut to stay on their feet in their fight for the $400,000 tournament champion’s prize.

On the other side of the coin, we have Team Liquid, FURIA Esports, and MIBR, which failed in this first match and are eliminated from the tournament.

Let’s see what happened in these three matches on the first day of CS:GO Gamers8 2023.

Team Vitality pass the steamroller over to MIBR

The European squad, reigning Paris Major champions Team Vitality, steamrollered MIBR to a very comfortable 2-0 victory and qualify for the quarterfinals of Gamers8 2023.

The series was always on Vitality’s side, as the Brazilian squad could do nothing to prevent the Europeans from overpowering them.

It all started at Anubis, MIBR’s map pick, where we saw two completely different games in both halves. Team Vitality had to suffer in the first half to take a tight 2-1 partial victory on their CT side. However, things changed radically in the second half, as they managed to win 8 consecutive rounds to take the victory in the first map by 16-7.

Then, in the second map, Inferno, Team Vitality again started on the right foot, as they achieved a partial victory by 11-4, which undoubtedly gave them great advantage for the rest of the map. In the second half, MIBR tried to wake up to give a surprise, but they could only win 4 rounds of the 9 disputed and fell by 8-16.

ENCE get a 2-0 win over Team Liquid

Another series that drew a lot of attention at the start of the tournament was the one between ENCE and Team Liquid. These two teams are very hard-working and, undoubtedly, the best is always expected from them in every tournament. However, ENCE managed a 2-0 victory over Liquid, which places them in the quarterfinals of Gamers8 2023.

It all started in Vertigo, Team Liquid’s map pick, where we witnessed a balanced match that had to be defined in Overtime. In the first half, Josh “oSee” Ohm (Liquid) and Guy “NertZ” Iluz (ENCE) went head to head in several fights, where Liquid finally achieved a partial victory by 8-7. Then, at the change of sides, we saw a back-and-forth match where the teams split the rounds until ENCE put the 15-15 on the scoreboard. Finally, in Overtime, ENCE pulled out a 19-17 win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Then, in the second map, Anubis, things changed radically, as ENCE took advantage of Team Liquid’s weak CT side in the first half to take a 12-3 partial victory. Finally, at the change of sides, Liquid couldn’t do much, as, in 6 rounds, ENCE managed to win the remaining 4 to take a comfortable 16-5 victory.

NaVi apply a reverse sweep against FURIA Esports

Finally, the last match of the first day of Gamers8 2023 left us with an excellent victory for NaVi, who had to apply a reverse sweep against FURIA Esports to qualify for the Quarterfinals. On the other hand, this means a new disappointment for the guys from FURIA, who, with their new lineup, have failed to prove anything in any of the tournaments they have played.

The series began in Nuke, FURIA’s map pick, where we watched as the Brazilian squad, led by Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, managed to come from behind in the second half to take the 16-11 victory. NaVi started the match very well with a 10-5 partial victory, but the skill of Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato and the coordination of FalleN led FURIA to win 9 rounds in a row to take the victory in this first map.

On the second map, Mirage, NaVi again started very well on their T-side to win the first half by 10-5. Then, at the change of sides, FURIA woke up and got 11-14 on the scoreboard, but, NaVi won the two remaining rounds to take the win by 16-13.

In the first half, NaVi got a solid 12-3 that gave them a really important advantage and, of course, gave them the confidence to win the series. Ultimately, FURIA could only win one round at the change of sides and fell by 4-16.
