Dota 2 patch 7.35 brought a lot of item changes that have had a major impact on the game’s meta. Much of what we thought we knew had to be discarded.

Here are some of the biggest changes introduced by Dota 2 patch 7.35 when it comes to items.

New and returning items

Ring of Tarrasque has returned to the game. It costs 1800 gold and provides +12 HP regen, which is quite a lot. But the cost is proportional.

Another interesting item is Tiara of Selemene. It costs 1800 gold and gives +6 mana regen. This is a brand new item that is impacting the builds of heroes that like to buy either Octarine Core or Scythe of Vyse. Its +6 mana regen works really well in combination with other mana regen items, increasing the amount to 15-20.

One such item is Sange and Kaya, which gives +50% mana regen. At first it might seem that these two items cost a lot of gold, but they’re actually not that expensive. A hero like Storm Spirit, who farms all the time, could realistically buy them before the 15 minute mark. Another option would be to buy just Kaya and Tiara of Selemene.

Khanda was introduced to give certain heroes the ability to combine their Phylactery with a Crystalys. This combination results in a lot of extra damage and can greatly impact their DPS, as well as their attributes.

With +50 damage, +200 HP, +200 mana, and +8 to all attributes in addition to the typical bonuses offered by Phylactery and Crystalys, Khanda is a very potent item that will buff your hero in a well-rounded way. The only condition to find the item useful is to use a hero that has a targeted spell designed to damage an enemy and with a low cooldown.

Parasma is the final new item introduced by IceFrog and its cost is 5575. It provides +45 intelligence, +40 attack speed, +8 armor, and +300 attack projectile speed. This is the perfect item for heroes like Queen of Pain and Puck because it’s built on top of Witch Blade. Overall, it greatly increases damage output but it also buffs your defensive capabilities.

Reworked items

Perhaps the most important reworked item of Dota 2 patch 7.35 is Arcane Boots. This item is now more team-oriented than ever. It no longer gives +250 mana to the bearer but it does provide +1.75 mana regen. Of that amount, 1 mana regen is provided to all allies in a 1200 radius, which is quite a lot.

Another reworked item is Bloodthorn. Its total cost is still very high. In fact, it’s even higher than before: 6825 gold. But it now requires slightly different items: Orchid Malevolence, Javelin, Hyperstone, and a 450 gold recipe.

Its intelligence bonus went down to 15 from 32. Its mana regen went down to 3 from 5. Its bonus damage went down to 10 from 35. The +25% magic resistance is gone, as well as the Mage Slayer’s passive.

However, it does provide more HP regen (6.5) and 100 attack speed instead of 60. Furthermore, the piercing chance for its Javelin component is 40% instead of 30%, and there’s a +60 magical damage applied to each attack against a silenced target.

Ethereal Blade was also reworked. It now costs 5375 instead of 4650 and it requires different items: Aether Lens, Ghost Scepter, and a recipe. It provides +8 all attributes, +250 cast range, as well as mana and mana regen benefits. Overall, the item feels much weaker than before, but at least it saves inventory space if the game goes on for long enough.

Orb of Corrosion was reworked in a surprising way. Its cost was decreased by 25 gold and it now provides +3 armor, +25 attack speed, and Corrosion, which deals 5 damage per second for 3s. This means that it deals 15 damage in total. The movement speed slow is still the same: 13/4%. However, there are some healing debuffs as well: -20% HP regen and lifesteal.

Revenant’s Brooch now costs just 4900 gold. It provides +70 damage, +20% spell lifesteal, and Phantom Province, which can be toggled to deal magical damage and attack Ethereal heroes.

Removed items

Two items have been removed from the game and they were quite important for some heroes. These items are Quarterstaff and Medallion of Courage. The second of these two items used to be bought a lot by Vengeful Spirit and other heroes that needed a way to lower enemy armor.

Whenever Roshan was a top priority and the job had to be done much faster, someone was buying Medallion. Now that it’s gone, teams will need to rethink their strategy.
