The Lima Major is over and one of the most important heroes of the tournament was Nature’s Prophet. He was picked no less than 73 times and got banned 96 times. This hero was clearly highly prized by most competitors and his win rate was 53.4%, which is quite high.

Nature’s Prophet used to be an amazing hero many years ago, back when Alliance were winning The International with him thanks to a strategy that has come to be known as rat-Dota. But in recent years, NP was mostly ignored by players, both in pubs as well as professional tournaments. Now he’s back. But why? What does he provide?

The strengths of Nature’s Prophet

Dota 2 is a game of power peaks and tactics. If you do the right thing at the right time, your chances to succeed are very high. All it takes is one tiny imbalance that you can spot and the opponent doesn’t. That can start a snowball effect that may be hard to stop and reverse.

Nature’s Prophet is very powerful in the laning phase and continues to be powerful throughout the mid game. That’s because he can easily go back to base to recharge and can farm faster than most of the other heroes in Dota 2. Thanks to his Teleportation, NP can be anywhere on the map, farming without worrying about anything.

When a fight breaks out or when his team needs him, he can just teleport precisely where he is needed. This ability is completely broken and has a ridiculously low cooldown. At level 4, you can use it every 20 seconds. Imagine being able to do that with Spectre. Wouldn’t it be a bit unbalanced?

Apart from his Teleportation, which you can skill right away, Nature’s Prophet also has a way of trapping a target for 6 seconds. In the farming department, he can use five Treants and gain more than 200 damage from all of them combined.

These Treants, which are created using Nature’s Call, have 550 HP. This makes them perfect for tanking jungle creeps.

To make things even sweeter, Nature’s Prophet has an ultimate that can give him hundreds of gold each time he uses it because it’s a global ability that affects numerous creeps around the map. Up to 18 in fact, including heroes. Its cooldown is 85 seconds and it makes you feel like you have a Hand of Midas.
