Dev1ce on the aftermath of Emilia Hult’s betrayal

Astralis player Nicolai “dev1ce” Reetdz has revealed in an interview with Swedish Youtuber bareen that his then-girlfriend Emilia Hult cheated on him two months after moving to Sweden, leaving him physically and emotionally very unwell and leading to a break from his then-Team Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Emilia Hult is a Swedish streamer and the 27-year-old Dane’s ex-girlfriend. She had previously been in relationships with other professional CS:GO players including Kenny “kennyS” Schrub and Andreas “znajder” Lindberg.

Dev1ce moved from Astralis to NIP in April 2021. The transfer fee for him at the time was €600,000.

Emilia Hult cheated on Dev1ce

According to the player, Emilia Hult cheated on him shortly after he moved to Sweden to play for NiP. The loss of his relationship caused the player to develop more stress-related stomach problems, and his psyche suffered from the cheating.

Dev1ce said in the interview with the Youtuber that Emilia cheated on him with “one of his best friends who lives there” and that many people knew about it except him. Dev1ce did not say exactly who this friend was. When they split up, he felt lonely in Sweden and had no one to spend time with or confide in other than his new colleagues.

“Apparently a lot of people knew about it. I didn’t know that myself. It was a very unique, cinematic and strange feeling and also because of that I was isolated up there and I had no network of acquaintances other than the NiP.”

I’ve always had stress issues, and ever since I started, I’ve always had issues with my stomach. I think I had a year and a half or two where I was throwing up day in, day out because of the stress. It’s just the pressure, the many days of travel and the fact that you can never relax. And then, at the end of my time at NiP, I ended up in Sweden alone, with no friends, no girlfriend or anything. And then the stress got worse and worse and I didn’t know what it was, it just kept going.”

Break due to mental problems

Because he felt so bad, after half a year with the Ninjas in Pyjamas, Dev1ce decided to take a break for his health and his psyche. The pro also revealed that during his break he wasn’t sure if he wanted to return to Astralis or continue playing CS:GO at all.

Dev1ce has never hidden his problems and has always been very open about them. He had previously explained that he had trouble sleeping and anxiety during this time, and that he was also physically unwell. After taking a sabbatical with NiP, he switched back to Astralis, where he still plays to this day.
