According to dataminer Maksim “Gabe Follower” Poletayev, the CS2 developers have indeed patched a significant vulnerability related to the Steam Workshop.

This vulnerability had allowed unauthorized access to players’ inventories, enabling actions like deleting cases, applying stickers, and exchanging skins. The critical nature of this exploit led to warnings within the gaming community, advising against playing CS2 during the period of vulnerability.

However, the patch that fixed this vulnerability also had the unintended consequence of disabling some game functions. The specific functionalities affected by this fix include custom panorama elements or scripts in maps, which were previously used for various creative purposes in the game.

Furthermore, this was not the only recent security concern in CS2. Earlier, another vulnerability was discovered, where CS2 players could display images during the Vote Kick process using HTML links embedded in their player names. This exploit, too, was promptly addressed and fixed, as reported by another CS2 dataminer, Aquarius.

These incidents underscore the ongoing security challenges in online gaming and the importance of quick responses from developers to safeguard player privacy and maintain the integrity of the gaming experience.
