As rumored several weeks ago, Valve released an update last August 31 to the CS2 limited test where, besides giving access to many more players, they also introduced the new Inferno and the new CS Premier Rating.

The CS Premier Rating is the new MM (Matchmaking) system that CS2 will have in its structure from its official launch. This system will divide players into two completely different classes. As a result, we will have one Rank in Premier mode and another in each specific map. Moreover, this Premier mode will likely be the main mm mode in CS2.

Valve introduce CS Premier Rating to CS2

Through a post on their official blog and Twitter account, Valve announced a new update to CS2, where they introduced the CS Premier Rating. In addition, they also confirmed the arrival of the MR12 format, which is planned to be used in the Majors, the new Inferno, and, above all, a new wave of invitations to the CS2 limited test.

In Premier mode, players can level up by winning matches and scoring points. Moreover, these points, in turn, will cause players to climb important positions in the regional leaderboards for each season. Moreover, Valve stresses that this system is fully transparent, meaning every player can access the points they have accumulated at any time. As a result, they can compare their points and rank with their rivals or friends.

Moreover, this Premier mode will be played under the MR12 format, i.e., the same format used in VALORANT. For those who do not know how it is, in this format, instead of the usual 15 rounds in each half, we will have 12. As a result, the team that manages to win 13 rounds will win the map. In addition, if there is a 12-12 tie, the classic Overtime is played, but only for six rounds.

Can we all play CS2 Premier mode?

While it is true that some regions were excluded from the CS2 Premier mode in the Regional Rankings, all those players who have their Prime status active will be able to play this game mode. In addition, Valve also revealed the regions that will have their leaderboards, which are as follows:

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Australia
  • China
  • Europe
  • North America
  • South America

For those who constantly play CS:GO on its official MM, Premier mode is no stranger to them, as this is the game’s most competitive and cheat-free environment. In this mode, teams will have to ban the maps they don’t want to play until only one of them is left, just like it happens in professional matches.

CS2 skill group system – Details

On the other hand, we have the CS2 skill group system, which is the mode that can be played by those who do not want to play the Prime mode. This is the same mm system we have always known in CS:GO; players select the maps they want to play and search for a random match.

However, players will have their CS2 ranks per map, unlike the regional leaderboards in Prime mode. In other words, players will have different ranks according to the map they play the most, i.e., if a player wins and plays very well in Nuke, they can become Global Elite. However, if he plays badly and does not win in Vertigo, he can be Silver.

Seeing this and, as we know how competitive the Counter-Strike community is, it is most likely that the main competitive MM mode of CS2 will be CS Premier.
