The LCS is underway, meaning North American League of Legends fans are undoubtedly in high spirits.

For the North American community, there is no doubt that it has been a crazy ride at the start of the LCS. However, after numerous cuts, schedule changes, streaming issues, lineup moves, and much more, fans enjoyed a first week full of excitement.

Some things were foreshadowed, such as teams with few ambitions and the change of schedules had to be rectified after the Kickoff event, among others. But the important thing is that League of Legends is back in North America and has kicked off with a bang.

Unexpected teams join Cloud9 at the top

While some of the results of the first two days were predictable, others were unexpected, without a doubt. While we are at the beginning of the season, for some players witnessing Cloud 9, Counter Logic Gaming and TSM may seem like a trip back in time.

However, this is not what is happening this early in the season. FlyQuest also joins these respected organizations with a fantastic 2-0 start. But the important thing is that some teams managed to defeat opponents that, on paper, would be quite a challenge for them.
In this first week, FlyQuest proved that they can be a major contender in the LCS Spring Split 2023. Especially thanks to their great performances against Team Liquid and Dignitas.

On the other hand, Cloud9 crushed Golden Guardians and then 100 Thieves in an early win.

The victories of TSM and CLG were more surprising. These teams struggled early in the game but recovered thanks to solid teamwork.

100 Thieves and EG show some weaknesses

After the first week, we can highlight that there is a lot of hope for 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses to be title contenders in this Split. However, while their victories were resounding and showed a significant level, they also had flaws they should correct as soon as possible.

100T was outclassed in several aspects by C9. On the other hand, Evil Geniuses started strong against Counter Logic Gaming. But, it could not maintain its lead and fell behind as the game progressed.

Liquid and Dignitas fail to get off to a good start

A total of four teams finished the first week of the LCS 2023 Spring Split with a 0-2 record. While there wasn’t much hope to speak of in Immortals and Golden Guardians. Both teams showed some flashes of brilliance but were unable to seal victories.

The surprising thing about this group is seeing Team Liquid on the roster. This team, which has phenomenal players on its roster, showed coordination problems against FlyQuest and TSM, which were perfectly exploited by both teams.

For their part, Dignitas struggled against CLG. Although they improved slightly in their second game, they lost control of the map.
